Located in the core area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Cross-River Corridor spans the Pearl River Estuary and connects Shenzhen and Zhongshan in Guangdong Province from east to west. The project started construction in 2017, starting from the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Yanjiang Expressway Airport Interchange, crossing the Pearl River Estuary to the west, landing on Ma'an Island, Zhongshan City, and finally Hengmen Interchange, connecting the Zhongshan to Kaiping Expressway under construction, with a total length of 2397 kilometers, the whole line adopts the technical standard of two-way eight-lane expressway, and sets up three interchanges at Shenzhen Airport, Wanqingsha and Hengmen. After the completion of the project, it will become the most convenient east-west expressway between eastern and western Guangdong, which will effectively promote the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and accelerate the economic integration and development of the east and west wings of the Pearl River Delta.
