On the evening of December 22nd, the classic repertoire of Zhejiang Yue Opera Xiaobaihua "Five Women's Birthday" is about to be staged, and Chen Xuanxuan, the second batch of Zhejiang Provincial Art Stage "1111" talents, is the chief conductor of this performance, and the Chao News reporter interviewed her before the performance.

Chen Xuanxuan, the conductor of Zhejiang Performing Arts Group and Zhejiang Song and Dance Theater, is a national first-class conductor. Her award-winning transcript includes folk music, symphonies, operas, modern symphonic Peking operas and other repertoire. "I am very grateful for the '1111' talent plan, which has more learning opportunities and platforms, allowing me to become familiar with more dramas in my own conducting field. She told reporters.

For conductors, conductors must not only be able to rehearse and conduct, but also master the basic composition and orchestration, and in many cases, they need to respond quickly and adjust the work according to factors such as orchestra composition and time. "In the field of many conductors, the symphony is a work they are familiar with, because its melody is relatively stable, while for opera, its melody is unpredictable, beyond the ordinary logic of music changes, which requires the conductor to change the speed of opera singing, the mastery of gongs and drums is particularly high, and also puts forward more requirements for the conductor's on-site adaptability."

Chen Yuxuan shows the score that she revised during the rehearsal process.

Chen Yuxuan said frankly that for ordinary conductors, operas like "Five Women's Birthday" are not daring to touch, because it involves multiple genres, the score is extremely complex, the actors will often adjust and change their singing voice during rehearsals, and the arrangement will also change the score on the spot during rehearsals, which is a big challenge for conductors, which tests the conductor's temporary reaction and overall control of the orchestra.

As early as 2018, when Chen Yuxuan was the first time she served as an opera conductor, she was shortlisted for a national award. She is fluent in both Chinese and Western, but she is obviously more proficient in folk music. In 2019, Chen Yuxuan joined the Zhejiang Chinese Orchestra. This orchestra, located on the shore of West Lake, has been committed to the excavation, sorting and research of ethnic groups, especially local areas in Zhejiang, and has created a large number of national instrumental works rich in Jiangnan style and local characteristics of Zhejiang.

After joining the "1111" talent plan of Zhejiang Performing Arts, Chen Xuanxuan's mentor is Ye Cong. As early as 2007, Ye Cong served as the ** director of the Singapore National Day Ceremony, and was awarded the "Singapore Cultural Award", the highest honor in Singapore's cultural industry. It is expected that in this "1111" talent plan study, Chen Xuanxuan will complete more cooperation with her mentor and try more styles.
