Working together to maintain maritime security

From December 4 to 8, the China Coast Guard and the Vietnam Coast Guard Command successfully held the seventh high-level working meeting and the visit of the Vietnam Coast Guard 8002 ship in Guangzhou, China. Yu Zhong, director of the China Coast Guard, and Le Quang Dao, commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, co-chaired the meeting, which was attended by leaders of the two sides in the maritime areas and personnel of political work, operations, law enforcement, and international cooperation. After the meeting, the Vietnam Coast Guard delegation visited the offices of the China Coast Guard in Guangzhou and Shanghai.

At the meeting, the two sides positively appraised the results of cooperation during the year, discussed how to better understand and implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and two countries recently, and discussed the relevant instructions and requirements of the two coast guards to strengthen maritime law enforcement cooperation, and decided to establish a political work exchange mechanism, continue to tap the potential of joint patrol cooperation in the waters of the Beibu Gulf, build a cooperative brand of "young police officer exchange", open a liaison window at the sea district level, and coordinate the fight against maritime violations and crimes, so as to further consolidate the traditional friendship between the two countries. Deepen practical maritime cooperation, properly handle maritime emergencies, and jointly maintain maritime security and stability. The two sides also exchanged views on topics of common concern.

In order to facilitate the meeting and strengthen exchanges and interactions between ships, at the invitation of the Chinese side, the Vietnam Coast Guard 8002 visited Guangzhou, China from December 4 to 8. During the visit, the two sides held a series of activities, such as the dock welcome and send-off ceremony, drill exchanges, cultural and sports exchanges, mutual boarding of ships, professional and technical exchanges of ships, and deck receptions.
