In December 2023, the Asia-Pacific Association for Artificial Intelligence and the UNESCO Higher Education Innovation Center reached a strategic cooperation to carry out in-depth cooperation in strengthening AI higher education, exploring new systems, new opportunities and challenges of AI higher education, cultivating AI talents and promoting international exchanges. The UNESCO Centre for Innovation in Higher Education (Shenzhen, China) was approved by the 38th General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on November 13, 2015 in Shenzhen, China, and is the 10th UNESCO Category II educational institution in the world and the first Category II higher education institution established in China. The mission of the UNESCO Centre for Innovation in Higher Education is to unleash the full potential of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to promote the digital transformation of higher education institutions in Asia and Africa, and to expand opportunities Xi for lifelong learning and quality and equitable education, drawing on the strength of China's vast higher education system and the experience of higher education innovation in the more developed countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2024, the key tasks of the Asia-Pacific Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAIA) are as follows: 1.
