Miscellaneous notes on the purchase of books in the year of Ren Yin

Mondo History Updated on 2024-01-19

I don't remember when it started, but at the end of the year and the beginning of the year, I would make an inventory of the new books in the year, which is to keep my memory. Over time, Xi has become natural, and this year is no exception.

At the beginning of the year, I strictly controlled the total number of books I purchased, that is, the number of books purchased in the whole year did not exceed 30. Although such a decision may seem somewhat cruel to a good book writer, it is also a helpless choice to weigh. After all, the books bought have nowhere to stay, let alone enough time to digest them, which has become the most urgent and tangled problem at present.

Looking back at the book purchase list in 2022, the first to be included in the bag is Liu Yunfeng's "Lu Xun Shuyilu" (Kyushu Publishing House). Strictly speaking, this is a relatively niche book, and it is difficult to buy it in ordinary bookstores. I first found traces in the "Lu Xun Research Monthly", and then found them through the Internet. At that time, I also bought a niche book called "Fang Cun Art: Words of Japanese Book Tickets" (Zhejiang University Press). In my memory, as a derivative of book collections, book tickets once had their highlight moments, but now that fewer people read paper books, the decline of book tickets seems to be unstoppable.

In the spring of March, I happened to see the bookstore selling a local flavor of "Xiamen Eating the Sea (1-3)" (Lujiang Publishing House), flipping through it, I felt that it was not only similar to the three volumes of "Notes on the Sea Mistake" (CITIC Publishing House) purchased a few years ago, but also more down-to-earth, so I took them all and collected them all. However, after buying it, I had some regrets for a while, mainly because I wanted to get the author's signature but didn't know where to start. However, there is a saying: there is nowhere to find the iron shoes, and it takes no effort to get them. Unexpectedly, four months later, the unit organized a special lecture on the protection of marine fishery resources, and it happened that Mr. Zhu Jialin, who was the editor-in-chief of the "Xiamen Evening News", was invited to give a lecture, and Mr. Zhu was the author of "Xiamen Eating the Sea".

Due to my unwavering hobby, Chinese history books still occupy an absolute advantage in my 2022 book list, mainly including "Modern Chinese ** History" (Zhejiang People's Publishing House), "Beijing Lu Xun Museum Collection of Xiao Hong Historical Materials" (Chunfeng Literature and Art Publishing House), "The Vicissitudes of Time" (Oriental Publishing Center), "Research on the Autobiography of Modern Chinese Writers" (China Social Sciences Press), "Micro Observation of Literary History" (Sanlian Bookstore), "Lu Xun Biographical Research Data Collection" (Culture and Art Publishing House), " Zhao Shuli's Manuscript (China Workers Publishing House), "Nine People" (Yilin Publishing House), "History of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Revolutionary Movement" (Kyushu Publishing House), etc.

Among them, Xia Zhiqing's "Modern Chinese ** History" is the third edition in my collection (the other two editions are the Hong Kong Chinese University Edition and the Fudan University Edition). The beginning of "The Vicissitudes of Time" finally allowed me to collect Mr. Qian Liqun's "Spiritual History of Chinese Intellectuals" trilogy (the other two are "1948: Heaven and Earth Xuanhuang" and "My Spiritual Autobiography"). In addition, the works of "Er Xiao" (Xiao Jun and Xiao Hong) and various research materials are still the focus of my book purchase, and Xia Xiaojing's "Xiao Hong's Historical Materials in the Collection of Beijing Lu Xun Museum" can be regarded as a certain quality harvest in the year of Ren Yin.

Of course, in addition to buying books, there are also some surprises that need to be "recorded" when they received books from friends in the year of Renyin. One is "The Long Taste of Reading" (Unity Press). This is the second collection of essays published by local writer Sui Tao. For this reason, I also took the initiative to write a book review of "A Collection of Books with True Feelings" to show my gratitude. The other is "Legislative Drafting: The Art and Technology of Regulating Rules" (Law Press). This is a translation of Xiaoxian's brother from Xiamen ** College, which is not only professional, but also has a lot of language and writing skills. I have been dealing with Hyo-hyun for many years because of local legislation, and I was fortunate enough to receive a masterpiece at the first time, which may be regarded as a recognition of my long-term work of "making wedding clothes for others" by the translator.
