Zhang Aiping, one of the leaders of national defense science and technology in New China, was hit by the Great Movement in 1966, was posted with big-character posters, listing "ten crimes", and was criticized in March 1967, put on the hat of a three-anti element, suspended from work for reflection, and accepted the review of the Zhang Aiping issue task force. From then on, he was deprived of his liberty, placed in custody, isolated, and lost contact with his family until 1972.
During the seven months he was detained, he underwent numerous interrogations, and the special case team used various means to extract a confession, and even used the head of the General Insurance and Health Department to threaten him as a spy. They disregarded the facts, fabricated evidence, induced perjury, and attempted to frame him. Zhang Aiping suffered a huge psychological and spiritual blow, but he always insisted on his innocence and did not give in.
On March 24, 1968, he learned the news of the "Yang Yufu incident" from the soldiers in the detention center, and he felt a glimmer of hope, so he wrote a letter to his superiors in May, asking for someone to be heard from him, saying that he had not been given the opportunity to fully present himself for more than a year, and that he wanted to clarify his problems and take off his hat. He said that during his imprisonment, he suffered humiliation and torture, even worse than that of war criminals, and that he pleaded for release and was willing to go to any difficult and dangerous place to work and reform.
He wrote a statement of more than 30,000 words, reviewing his revolutionary process, from joining the party to Shanghai, and then to being under guardianship, he denied the accusation that he was a fake party member, a spy, and a counterrevolutionary, and he said that he had been revolutionary for decades, and had never done a single thing to sabotage the revolution, and if there was evidence to prove that he had a problem, he was willing to accept any punishment.
Whether his letter will be delivered, he does not know, because his guardianship is very strict, and his imprisonment has not been reduced, but because of the 324 incident, the interrogation of the task force has been less.
In this way, he spent a long time in prison until 1972, when his wife and son helped him to hand over the letter to **, which in turn handed it to *** and reported it to the Prime Minister, who gave instructions on his problems, and his situation improved. Soon after, he was reunited with his family.
He returned to work in 1975 and 1977 and later served as Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Secretary-General of the Military Commission and Minister of Defense. The deputy director of the special case office, who had interrogated him, later became seriously ill, and apologized to him through others, hoping that he could forgive the past, Zhang Aiping was silent for a long time, saying: This is unforgivable.
In that special era, many people were hurt, Zhang Aiping and the deputy director of the special case office had no personal vendetta, but what he couldn't forgive was that they didn't respect the facts, fabricated the facts, forced witnesses to give perjury, and even asked the judicial organs to tamper with the files and fabricate charges, even if the facts proved that he was innocent, they had to continue to ** him, which is unforgivable.
