Beijing News (Reporter Su Ji) The reporter learned from Harbin Engineering University that on December 31, 2023, nearly 1,000 teachers and students of the school spent 5 hours on the 230-meter-long and 112-meter-wide military playground to create the "three pearls" of China's shipbuilding industry with snow: the Fujian aircraft carrier, the "Aida Modu" cruise ship, and the "Dapeng" transport ship to welcome the arrival of 2024.

In 2023, the first domestically produced large cruise ship will be officially delivered to users at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Terminal, marking that China has become a country that has gathered the "three pearls" of the shipbuilding industry and can build aircraft carriers, large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and large cruise ships at the same time.
According to Harbin Engineering University, due to the heavy snow in 2023, the snow in the military playground is more than 10 centimeters thick, and the weather is more than minus 20 degrees Celsius outdoors, which brings difficulties to the project.

As a university with the characteristics of ship and sea in China, and the capital city located in the northernmost part of China, when it snows every winter, the teachers and students of Harbin Engineering will use snow to pile up underwater heavy weapons and express their love for ship sea and ice and snow in a special way.
The reporter learned that the casting of the "Three Pearls" snow ship activity is one of the series of activities of the 2023 Ice and Snow Carnival of Harbin Engineering, which is the activity with the largest number of participants, the largest area and the highest technical content. In addition, the 16th International Collegiate Snow Sculpture Competition 2024 will be held from January 4 to 7 on the Harbin Engineering Campus, where 57 teams from all over the world will gather on campus to create a feast of ice and snow.
