In the desolate land of China, countless exiles hesitated, carrying heavy shackles of fate, seeking the spiritual journey of spiritual liberation, and deducing the ups and downs of the historical process, generation after generation, day after day. The culture of exile has been recorded since ancient times, and it was not abolished until the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, spanning thousands of years. The earliest accounts of exile appear in the Shangshu and Shiji. There is a description of Shun Diping's "four sins" in "Shangshu Yaodian":
The flow works together in Youzhou, puts the donkey in Chongshan, channels the three seedlings in the three dangers, and dies in Yushan. The "Four Sins" refer to the four sins of Gonggong, Sanmiao, Donkey and Kun, and their final result is exile, which is the earliest record of exile in Chinese history books. In this regard, it is also recorded in the "Historical Records of the Five Emperors":
The flow works together in Youling, to change the North Di, to put the donkey in the Chongshan, to change the Nanban, to move the three seedlings to the three dangers, to change the Xirong, to die in the Yushan, to change the Dongyi, the four sins and the world is salty. It refers to Shun's suggestion to Emperor Yao to put the four evil ** in the four directions to change the local customs. Unfortunately, Kun became the first person in history to be exiled.
Who is Kun?Many people may not know that he is actually the father of the famous Yu, the leader of the Chong tribe during the Five Emperors period, and is also known as Chongbo Kun in history. In China, when it comes to Dayu's water control, it can be said that he is a household name, he passed the door three times without entering, and worked hard to control the monstrous flood; He measured the land of China, divided the Chinese Kyushu, founded the Xia Dynasty, and was the founder of Chinese civilization. But do you know that before Dayu controlled the water, his father Chongbokun had actually been ordered by Emperor Yao to control the flood. There is such a record in the "Bamboo Book Chronicle: Volume I": "(Di Yao) sixty-one years, ordered Chongbo to rule the river. He used the method of building embankments to block the water, and he was also very dedicated and persevering, but after nine years, not only failed to control the water, but also caused the flood of the two tribes of Huaxia and Dongyi, and finally became a sinner who was resented by people and gods, exiled by Yao, and died in Yushan by Shun. In other words, Chongbo Kun failed to control the water, was banished to Hayama, and finally died in the penal colony. I don't know what kind of mood Kun had when he was exiledI guess he didn't figure it out until he died, why did I work so hard, but I ended up like this?Isn't this a natural way to cover up the earth, why is it wrong? He was confused, dazed; He was unwilling, but he wanted to argue without words; His ambition has not been rewarded, but he has no strength to recover. I think he set out on the path of exile with infinite sadness.
In fact, Chongbokun's initial flood control was also effective, but the water flooded higher and higher, and finally failed to completely quell the flood. This was mainly due to his wrong approach, which was to build an embankment to block the water, but it coincided with the glacial period, and the higher the water was blocked, which caused more flooding. After Kun's death, his son Yu inherited his business, and summed up his father's failed experience, switched to the dredging method, using the natural trend of water flowing to a lower place, dredged the nine rivers, dug the dragon gate, and finally dredged the waterway, diverted the flood into the sea, and successfully controlled the flood. This story illustrates several truths: First, the method of doing things is very important, otherwise it will be in vain no matter how hard you try;2. The success of a career may be the result of the efforts of several generations, no matter what our fate is in this life, we can only persevere, and we will also lay a better foundation for future generationsThird, failure is the mother of success, constantly summarize and improve, and then assume the general trend, the momentum will be successful. Regardless, Chongbokun unfortunately became the first exile in recorded history.
As the son of the ancient five emperors and the grandson of the Yellow Emperor, Kun is actually a virtuous person, who was also expected to inherit the throne and open his own era. "Lü's Spring and Autumn County Shou" recorded: "Xi Zhong made a car, Cangjie made a book, Houji made a crop, Gao Tao made a punishment, Kunwu made pottery, and Xia Cang made a city. "Wu Yue Chunqiu" recorded: "Kun built the city to defend the king, built Guo to live in the people, the beginning of this city." ”。The Bamboo Book Chronicle records: "(Di Yao) sixty-one years, ordered to worship Bo Kun". That is to say, Kun is the ancestor of the city, and the Chongguo city he built is the first city in China. In a sense, Yu is the founder of Chinese civilization, and Kun is the founder of Chinese civilization. But it is such a person, but he was trapped in the impermanence of fate, and finally ended up with a tragic ending, and he is a tragic character. So, from the very beginning, the background of the culture of exile was tragic, and in the Chinese cultural tradition, it has a unique literary meaning and aesthetic color.
Although Chongbo Kun did not return to his hometown until he died, his exile place in Dongyi Yushan gave birth to the great Xia Yu. Xia Yu married the powerful Tushan clan Nujiao of the Dongyi tribe as his wife, united the forces of the Dongyi tribe and the Huaxia tribe, and followed the advice of the female Jiao to successfully control the flood, demarcate Kyushu, and create the Xia Dynasty. When Xia Yu returned to the land of Kyushu from Dongyi with his father's unfinished mission, in fact, the soul of the exile came back in another form, and finally Xia Yu established the Xia Dynasty, created the concept of the state, realized the transformation of China from a primitive society tribal alliance to a state, and created the Chinese civilization. Therefore, as the ancestor of the exiles, Chong Bo Kun cannot be simply defined as a loser or a guilty person, he is actually a hero, but a tragic hero. Today, we trace the origin of the exile culture, and find that it also happens to be the origin of Chinese culture, all of which happened in ancient times more than 4,000 years ago. The Book of Mountains and Seas reads:
The flood is monstrous, the emperor steals the emperor's breath to the flood, does not wait for the emperor's order, the emperor ordered Zhu Rong to kill the cang, the rebirth of Yu, the emperor is ordered to die, and the soil is set in Kyushu. It means that at that time, the earth was flooded everywhere, and Kun stole the Emperor's soil to plug the flood without the consent of the Emperor. The Emperor of Heaven sent the fire god Zhu Rong to kill Kun in the suburbs of Yushan. Kun died for three years, and the body did not decompose, and Yu was born from his womb. The Emperor then ordered Yu to control the flood, and Yu eventually curbed the flood with earthwork and demarcated Kyushu. In other words, Kun finally conceived Yu through his immortal will, and completed his unfinished business through Yu, what a beautiful description!History became legends, and legends became myths, and finally they were able to circulate for a long time in the land of China.
