After the incident in Jishishan County, Gansu Province, emergency medical rescue teams from many countries quickly gathered support, once again bringing the term "disaster medicine" into the public eye. On December 24, the 2023 Academic Annual Conference of the Disaster Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association was concluded in Shanghai, and the "2023 Dianzan Science Popularization China" 5G+ Life First Aid Safety Station Project was released during the meeting.
The conference was hosted by the Chinese Medical Association and the Disaster Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and organized by the East Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University and the Institute of Disaster Medicine Engineering of Tongji University. At the opening ceremony, the release ceremony of "Modern Disaster Medicine" edited by Professor Liu Zhongmin and the "2022 China Blue Book on Sudden Cardiac Death Prevention and Rescue" of the 5G+ Sudden Cardiac Death Prevention and Rescue System Project of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China were held.
The essence of medicine is to care for life, and disaster medicine is not only a science, but also a mission. Chen Yihan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of the East Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University, first pointed out the intention of the conference. In the report of the conference, Chen Xiangmei, Fu Xiaobing, and Jiang Jianxin, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered keynote speeches around the theme of the conference. Natalia Sergeevna, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, and Mikhail Nikolaevich, Director of the Russian Federal Center for Disaster Medicine, gave a detailed presentation on the structure and functions of All-Russian Medical Assistance for Disasters and the current program of "Medical Assistance to Victims of Emergencies" in the Russian Federation countries, jointly addressing the risks and challenges faced by the global field of disaster medicine.
Over the past 15 years, the Disaster Medicine Branch has led the development of the discipline of disaster medicine, continuously expanded the academic boundaries of disaster medicine, paid attention to the comprehensive practice of disaster medicine rescue, committed to improving the ability to deal with various disasters, and built a solid bridge for international cooperation. The General Assembly issued a certificate of appointment to the new committee. Professor Liu Zhongmin, chairman of the committee, proposed to all the committee members: I hope that everyone will work together to focus on the hot issues of disaster medicine, present new ideas, new methods, new technologies and new progress in disaster medicine and related fields from multiple angles and directions, and promise to actively work to create a multi-level academic exchange environment for experts and scholars, and provide various forms of learning and exchange opportunities for young committee members and group members.
