The correct way to fish for float drifting

Mondo Sports Updated on 2024-01-31

Fishing for float drifting is a common fishing technique, and here's how to do it right:

1.Prepare your drifting gear: First, prepare the right rods, lines, floats, sinkers, and hooks. Choose the right gear for your target species and fishing environment.

2.Adjust the float depth: Fix the float on the fishing line and adjust the depth of the float according to the target fish species and water depth. Typically, the float is adjusted to a certain depth below the surface of the water to allow the bait to float in a suitable water layer.

3.Lure: Drop the bait on the hook into the water near the target fishing spot. The bait can be dropped to the target location using a rod, stone throw, or other suitable means.

4.Wait for the fish to bite: Once the bait has been placed, wait quietly for the fish to bite. Observe the movement of the float, if the float sinks, shakes or stops suddenly, it may be a sign of a fish bite.

5.Hook fishing: When there is a signal of a fish bite on the float, quickly pull up the rod and pull the hook hard. Be careful to keep the line tight to avoid fish dishooking or line breakage.

6.Control the movement of the fish: Once the fish is caught, control the movement of the fish according to its size and strength. Use appropriate technique and strength to avoid the fish from decoupling or breaking the string.

7.Lifting the fish ashore: When the movement of the fish is successfully controlled, slowly pull the fish closer to the shore or the side of the boat, and use appropriate tools to lift the fish to shore or boat.

Please note that the above are some of the basic fishing methods of floating drifting, and the actual fishing needs to be adjusted and practiced according to the specific species, fishing spot and fishing environment. Understand the local fishing regulations and protection measures, reasonably release the fish that do not meet the regulations, and protect the water resources. Also, make sure you're safe and follow the relevant fishing safety regulations.
