On the day of the winter solstice, the sunlight hits the Tropic of Capricorn directly, and the sunlight is the most inclined to the northern hemisphere, and the solar altitude angle is the smallest, which is the shortest day and the longest night in the northern hemisphere. On the day of the winter solstice, although the sun is low and the days are short, in terms of meteorology, the temperature of the winter solstice is not the lowest. In fact, it is usually not very cold before the winter solstice due to the "accumulated heat" on the surface, and the real severe cold comes after the winter solstice, signaling the beginning of the cold season.
