There are some differences between single-sided and double-sided welding of stainless steel welded pipes.
Single-sided welding refers to welding on one side of the weldment, while double-sided welding is welding on one side and then going to the other side after welding.
In double-sided welding, it is often necessary to remove slag inclusions from the roots, which can be achieved by planing or grinding. However, single-sided welding does not require this step.
Whether it is single-sided or double-sided welding, quality is equally important. The weld must be smooth and full, and the double-sided welding requires to meet the requirements of the weld 5d, while the single-sided welding requires the requirements of the weld 10d.
However, in most cases, single-sided welding requires double-sided forming, i.e. ensuring that the unwelded side also has a good surface quality. This can be achieved by using TIG welding first for the base and then using arc welding. Single-sided welding is to connect two items together by welding, and only one side is required to be formed, while double-sided welding requires both sides to be formed.
Since single-sided welding only requires one welding, while double-sided welding requires two welding, it is safe to say that double-sided welding is stronger than single-sided welding.
