On a cold late night in the last years of the Qing Dynasty, a small village was surrounded by a continuous torrential rain. When all the villagers had fallen asleep, an orphaned woman named Lin'er returned from an abandoned house in the village. Her purpose is to investigate the legend of the orb hidden in the shrine near the village. She believes that only by obtaining the orb can she save her fate.

Lin'er crept into the shrine and was greeted by a lifeless silence. However, the moment she touched the orb, a loud bang struck her eardrums, and the orb floated in mid-air as if guided by a ghost.

The orb suddenly turned into a ghost, crisscrossing and dancing, and threw itself at Lin'er. The ghost tells Lin'er that the orb is the spirit of the demon king sealed by a vicious demon, and that it can only maintain its power by sucking human souls. The ghost attacks Lin'er, but Lin'er skillfully dodges it and throws the orb at the idol. The orb was absorbed by the idol, and the demonic power disappeared instantly.

Lin'er saved her life and protected the entire village at the same time. Since then, the shrine has become a symbol of faith and hope. When night falls, the villagers can still hear the whispers of the orbs in the wind, reminding them to beware of the arrival of demons.
