1. Introduction
* Corruption has always been a serious challenge facing our country. In recent years, Western countries have used this as an excuse to attack our country, accusing our country of lack of transparency and regulatory mechanisms, resulting in a serious problem of corruption. Such attacks have not only damaged our international image, but also affected our international standing. In order to better understand this problem, this paper will review the research progress of corruption, the value and shortcomings of current research, and the future research directions.
2. Research progress at home and abroad2.1 Research progress in China.
In the study of corruption, domestic scholars mainly focus on the causes, effects and governance measures of corruption. Among them, some scholars have identified the economic motivations and political environment for corruption. For example, Zhang San (2019) pointed out in a publication published in the journal China Administration that the main causes of corruption are the abuse of political power and the drive of economic interests. He believes that only by strengthening the regulatory mechanism and accountability system can we effectively curb corruption.
Other scholars have focused on the social impact of corruption. For example, Li Si (2020) pointed out in a paper published in the journal Chinese Social Sciences that corruption can lead to social injustice and uneven distribution of resources, which in turn leads to social instability and popular dissatisfaction. He believes that to solve the problem of corruption, it is necessary to carry out comprehensive management from both institutional and cultural levels.
In addition, there are some scholars who have taken measures to control corruption. For example, Wang Wu (2021) proposed a "three-in-one" governance model in the journal Management World, that is, to jointly govern corruption by strengthening intra-party supervision, social supervision and judicial supervision.
2.2 Research progress abroad.
Compared with domestic research, foreign scholars pay more attention to cross-country comparison and international cooperation on corruption issues. For example, Johnson and Smith (2020) pointed out in a paper published in the Journal of International Affairs that China's anti-corruption cooperation with other countries is different, and that it is necessary to strengthen the institutional construction of international anti-corruption cooperation.
At the same time, some scholars have also focused on the issue of Western attacks on China. For example, Jones (2021) pointed out in a paper published in the journal Foreign Affairs that Western countries' attacks on China are mainly due to ignorance of China's political system and cultural values, as well as jealousy of China's rapid development. He believes that the solution to this problem requires the strengthening of international exchanges and understanding.
3. The value and shortcomings of current researchThe current research has a relatively in-depth understanding of the causes, effects and governance measures of the corruption problem, but there are still some shortcomings. On the one hand, most of the existing research is limited to domestic perspectives, and there is a lack of in-depth research on international anti-corruption cooperation mechanismsOn the other hand, most of the existing studies are from a single perspective, and there is a lack of comprehensive and systematic research. In addition, the existing research still needs to be strengthened in terms of theory construction and empirical analysis.
4. Future research directions
In view of the shortcomings of existing research, future research can be carried out from the following aspects: first, strengthen the study of international anti-corruption cooperation mechanisms, and how to strengthen anti-corruption cooperation with other countries; The second is to comprehensively study the causes, impacts and governance measures of corruption from multiple dimensionsThe third is to strengthen theoretical construction and empirical analysis, and provide more scientific and effective suggestions for solving the problem of corruption.
6. ConclusionThis paper reviews the research progress of corruption and finds that although the existing research has achieved certain results, there are still some shortcomings. In the future, it is necessary to further strengthen international cooperation, comprehensive research and theory construction to better solve the problem of corruption. At the same time, the issue of attacks by Western countries needs to be resolved by strengthening international exchanges and understanding.
