Today, I will briefly analyze the development path of logistics management graduates after their work.
The students who are talking about this specifically refer to those who have entered a logistics company and are engaged in logistics-related work. Students who have not entered the logistics company after graduation may have a slightly different growth path and are not within the scope of this discussion.
Generally speaking, the career development of fresh graduates who enter logistics companies is probably in the following periods:
The first stage is the stage of confusion and pain (about 1 year).
For newcomers, it is generally with passion and confidence, but in fact, this passion and confidence do not last long.
Because when you arrive at the company, you will find that you will not be chatting with a group of bigwigs in the office to discuss logistics solutions as you imagined. will not immediately become an expert in data analysis, operate on tens of thousands of rows of data, and make a beautiful analysis report, blinding the eyes of leaders.
None of the above will happen in reality. The only thing that will happen is that you may be doing things that have nothing to do with logistics management after you join the company.
For example, to stamp the contract, to organize and collect basic data, or to go to different positions to exercise, to complete the company's human resources arrangement of some very "mentally retarded" reports and materials.
These periods last as little as two months and as long as a year.
For such a long time, you can't find the value and meaning of your existence, and you don't understand why the company arranges your work the way it does.
When this period of time has passed, you will slowly start to take on some specific tasks, and you can have meetings with team members to gradually understand the KPIs of the department and the main work of the moment.
Because you haven't passed the beginner stage yet, your work will stumble, you will be busy, and even after a few months, you will still feel foggy. Even if you think you've tried hard to understand everything, you will still be criticized by your boss or colleagues.
At this stage, about 45% of people will start to want to escape, half of them will directly ask for the process and leave, and the other half will hesitate to leave.
Whether they are college students or graduate students, they are in different positions, but they have the same feelings. Tertiary students feel that the work is hard, and graduate students feel that they are not being valued. Each has its own reasons, but in the end, 45% of people want to leave.
Most of the people who shout "logistics management escape" on the Internet are people who go out from this stage.
The second stage is the solitary stage (1 to 2 years of employment).
This stage is usually one or two years after the first stage. At this time, the relationship between you and your colleagues is relatively familiar, and everyone will treat you as their own. You will be assigned some work indicators and tasks, and during the meeting, the leader will also ask you about the follow-up and completion of the work you are responsible for.
Most of the time, you won't do it well.
For example, in the purchasing position, you simply don't understand the relationship between the company's production plan and the procurement plan. Internally, you can't coordinate the payment to the merchant, and externally, you can't coordinate the merchant's normal supply to you
For example, if you are a logistics planning post, you can't explain the key factors of the location of the distribution center, and you can't explain why the report you wrote is this idea instead of that idea, and you can't even explain how the report was written
For example, if you are a warehouse management post, you have never understood what is going on with the management of expiring goods, or you have made a mess of the management ......of recycling packagingAnd all that.
Since you are already a mature worker at this time, your colleagues will not speak for you as before, and your boss will not look at you with the eyes of newcomers. Then you will feel the warmth and coldness of people, and feel the bitterness and meanness of the leader.
If you can put the problem you face in perspective, you will be in this cycle of "being questioned-striving-being questioned-trying" for a while; But if you can't look at these issues correctly, then you will consider whether to change companies or positions again, just like the other 20% of your friends
This stage is the most painful stage of my career, so I call it the solitary stage.
At this stage, you will fully realize that your four years of college are in vain, and all your knowledge will not be used at this time. You have to use all your strength to understand the company's first-class chain system and business form, and then you also need to understand the positioning of your own department and the main responsibilities of your position.
Once you understand this, you can start to study how your job should be handled.
In the first stage, you won't have problems that others are willing to teach you because you are new. But after that stage, people are not very willing to teach you. Because you are no longer a newcomer, and secondly, everyone works in the company, everyone has their own things, and they don't want to spend time on other people's work. Another reason, which may be more true, is that you are now in the same performance team as everyone else.
If you perform well, it means that they have fewer opportunities. If his performance is not good, it means that there are fewer opportunities for promotion and salary adjustment. At this time, the people around you will use the tricks of the philistine to communicate with you, or in other words, everyone will have some small scheming for themselves.
The direct manifestation is that you will find that you have no friends in the company, and you don't want to contact any of the people in the company during the weekend break.
So you understand why there is often intrigue and deception in the company, right?
It's not that everyone is like this from the beginning, but the performance indicators make everyone unconsciously become a social person.
At this stage, you will silently bear the indicators, and bear the doubts and human feelings.
Some people will always be forbearant and angry, and some people will silently refresh their resumes and look at the opportunities outside.
At this time, people who leave their jobs generally do not talk about bad logistics management on the Internet, and most of them will only feel frustration and grievances.
The third stage is the rapid growth stage (2-3 years of employment).
At this stage, after two years of employment, you will have a clear understanding of your current main work and how to coordinate with various departments. Although there are still troubles at times, at least you will not be frightened when facing problems.
It is even said that at this stage, you can already brag to the new college students.
At this time, you will want to improve your work ability independently, and take the initiative to work overtime to quickly solve the problem at hand.
Because of the obvious increase in salary and when you first joined, the number of criticism from your leaders has decreased, the dependence and trust of your colleagues have increased, and your own confidence has become more and more sufficient.
You will always look back and feel that you have been doing logistics for two or three years without knowing it.
Then I looked at the questions of the students in the group, and occasionally explained or answered them in a friendly way, and laughed in my heart that I was so confused at the beginning.
No matter what department and what position you are in the logistics sector in the early stage, you will generally enter this state after three years, which is the super self-growth stage. Desperate work, there is an extreme desire for good performance, a desire to take on more important responsibilities, and a full of confidence in promotion and salary adjustment.
At this time, you have no idea about leaving, but just focus on improving your professional ability, pay more and more attention to how to write good report materials, and get more and more encouragement and appreciation from your leaders.
The gap in most people's careers arises from this time. Ten years after graduation, some people are in a mess, and some people are in a mess, mainly to see what he is doing in the third year of work.
The fourth stage, career bottlenecks and breakthroughs (3-5 years of employment).
This stage generally occurs after about five years of work. Either he has become the pillar of the department and undertakes the main indicator work, or he has become an old fritter, and his work is not good.
At this stage, many people have a bottleneck in career promotion. The main reason is that further up, the weight of employees' professional skills will be smaller, and they will be replaced by personal communication skills and emotional intelligence.
If you have a good relationship with the leader, you will continue to be promoted, and if you are the one with low emotional intelligence, then you will always perform well, but you will not get a good salary adjustment and promotion.
The main reason is that at this stage, your leader not only needs to perform well, but also needs to have a good relationship with his superiors. If you can only provide performance ability, then for him you are just doing a normal level, not exceeding his expectations, not at all to the point of making him favor.
So how can you break through yourself at this time?
The answer is to think about what the leader thinks and what the leader thinks.
What he thinks all day long, you help him think, what he is talking about, you go to complete and present something.
For example, he has recently struggled with how to report on his work and plans for the second half of the year. At this time, if you can think about what he thinks, write these things in the materials you report to him and write them well, then you will win his favor.
There is no need for you to work hard and hard, and you don't need to work overtime, as long as you solve his problems, you can get a promotion and a raise.
That's why many people complain that doing more in the company is not as good as PPT writing.
The above is the regular career development path for everyone in the first five years of logistics management.
I have read the career plan written by some friends, saying that five years after graduation, I will be the head of the logistics department of a certain company. This can be said in a career development plan, but the likelihood of it being achieved is even lower than the likelihood that you will pick up 100 dollars on the road tomorrow.
Five years after graduation, it would be good if you were not confused and depressed as a social animal.
Of the five years of career mentioned above, the previous year had the highest turnover rate. This has nothing to do with the logistics management work itself, mainly because everyone enters the work as a graduate and is not very able to accept the company's work rhythm and the caution between colleagues.
This is the main reason why I don't recommend leaving your job at the beginning of your job. If you leave your job at this time, you don't have any work experience, and you still have to go to another company to suffer this crime. So, it's better to stay here with peace of mind and honestly.
