Liu Dahua was born in Huangpi, Hubei Province in 1950, and began to learn chess at the age of ten, and is known as the "Oriental Computer" and "Chess King". In 1980, he won the national chess championship from Hu Ronghua, won the national championship in 1981, won the "Wuyang Cup" championship twice, and won the "Yinli Cup" championship in 1991, 1993 and 1997. In 1995, he set the highest record of 1 against 19 players in blindfold chess in Beijing.
In China, there are "four masters" of blind chess, Liu Dahua is known as the "first of the four blind chess", and the other three are Hu Ronghua, Xu Tianhong, and Li Laiqun.

In 2010, Liu Dahua, who had reached retirement age, retired because he couldn't give up his love for chess, and continued to serve as the head coach of the Hubei chess team, leading the first team to fight on the battlefield. Unfortunately, the veteran chess player was found to have colon cancer in 2017. In the face of terminal illness, Liu Dahua was not intimidated, and in the fight against the disease, he once again showed the powerful aura of the "Overlord of Western Chu".

Liu Dahua Chess Academy" is located in the Chu Feng Qin Yun Creative Space of Wuhan Research and Innovation Center, Zanglong Island, Wuhan Optics Valley.
