The Yi River is the "mother river" of the Yimeng people. The Yihe River meanders for 600 kilometers in the land of Yimeng, and has been flowing, nurturing generations of industrious and simple Yimeng people with inexhaustible blood, giving birth to a splendid and rich Yimeng culture, and nourishing the creative spirituality of artists. Mr. Wu Xingpei, who is active in the contemporary Chinese painting circle, has a strong affection for the Yihe River, he loves Yimeng, often paints the Yihe River, and never gets tired of it. In his eighties this year, he has been engaged in art for more than 60 years, witnessed the changes of the times in Yimeng, and created ethereal and wonderful landscape masterpieces, which are deeply loved by people from all walks of life.

"The Green River Bank".

Mengshan is high, Yishui is long, and the scenery on both sides of the Yihe River is good. Mr. Wu Xingpei's home is on the bank of the Yi River, he often walks to the bank of the Yi River, and the scenery of the Yi River with distinct seasons is reincarnated and changed under his nose, all of which touch his aesthetic soul, so he is familiar with the appearance of the Yi River and understands the temperament of the Yi River. He has been immersed, moistened, and washed in the wind and rain of the Yi River for many years, and naturally integrates the style and charm of the Yi River into the pen and ink Su. He was well-educated, devoted to cultivation, and increasingly forged brush and ink, constantly sublimating his own landscape painting art.

"Quiet Yi River Beach, Heaven and Water are Closely Connected".

Paintings such as "Quiet Yi River Beach, Mountains and Rivers Close to Each Other", "Spring Flowers Faint", "Wan Lai Vitality in the Sun", "The First Sprouts on the Embankment" and other paintings are the fine works created by Mr. Wu Xingpei with the theme of Yi River. It can be seen from this that he has been staring at the Yihe River closely for many years, carefully observing the Yihe River, so as to turn the Yihe River into the unrestrained colors, hearty brushwork and hot emotions of the brush, and construct a beautiful and charming aesthetic conception with the combination of poetry and painting. "The leaves of the faint sparse forest are half yellowLooking at the four wild grasses in the distance. The cold year has not allowed the autumn wind to end,The maple tree is like fire and laughs red frost. ”

This is a poem inscribed by Mr. Wu Xingpei on his "Autumn Scene of the Yi River". In contrast to the poem, the composition of this painting is ingenious, and the moist sky, the fiery maple forest in a belt, the half-yellow and green bushes on the embankment, and the flowing water formed by the blank space are connected by the author into an organic artistic conception according to the rule of "three distances". The whole painting, with harmonious tones, is symbiotic, revealing a simple and delicate atmosphere and a sparse and fresh beauty.

"Autumn Scene of the Yi River".

Mr. Wu Xingpei carefully observed the changes and changes of the Yihe River at different times of the day, especially the scenery of the Yihe River in the morning, carefully observed and sketched, and depicted it accurately when creating. Appreciate Mr. Wu Xingpei's painting "Morning Song": This picture is based on the author's unique experience in collecting style, the spatial relationship is carefully handled, the imagery is written layer by layer, and the unique block texture is seen, which is gradually pushed away from the near and far, focusing on the wonderful situation of penetration and harmony when the red light emitted by the rising sun and the atmosphere are connected, coupled with the flying of gulls, one after another, the murmuring water, flowing to the outside of the painting, which can be described as a vivid artistic conception, annotating a maxim of Master Huang Binhong: "Painting is a silent poem, and poetry is a sound painting." If it is difficult to show in words, it will be in the form of paintings; If the picture is poor, it is enough to use poetry. ”

"Morning Song".

"The Purple Air Rises in the East, the Fragrance of Flowing Water in Spring".

Mr. Wu Xingpei uses a variety of techniques to paint the Yi River. He uses traditional ink painting as the main material, and draws on and integrates aesthetic elements such as modern composition, watercolor painting, and relief art, so as to achieve the integration of color and ink, and the overall tone is unifiedRendering, outlining, vignetting, and the texture is also prominent, which makes people feel the free and smooth emotional expression of the old painter when he moves the brush, which overcomes the disadvantages of the ancients, and makes his own schema new, with a unique freehand charm and novel aesthetic atmosphere, so that the viewer has an immersive feeling.

"Morning Light".

"The Rising Sun of the Yi River".

Speaking of painting the Yihe River, Mr. Wu Xingpei said: "The words Mengshan and Yishui are often said together, which is a good word in our Yimengshan District. Let's talk about this Yi River, compared to the big river, it is not a big river, and it is also a relatively large river in our Shandong, with a total length of more than 1,000 miles. Why is Yiyuan, Yinan, and Linyi all related to 'Yi'?Because it spans a relatively long time. What is the biggest feature of Yihe? The water is shallow. The water is shallow, and there is a lot of moss growing in the river beach, and there are some small islands in the water. This small island, more interesting, now there are a lot of birds, you go to the Yihe River beach, often see egrets, they appear on the island, there are both water and birds, this scenery is particularly good, especially into the painting. I used to go east along the Yi River to sketch, and I was able to paint the area around Tancheng, as well as several wetlands, and I went to paint them all. The purpose is to show its most beautiful side. This small island, you take a look, not very careful, inconspicuous, but a few small islands painted in the water, plus a little artificial boat, the taste is completely different. In some places, there are even reeds and reed ponds, and you add distant mountains from afar, and the distant mountains take the method of splashing ink from time to time to add a close view of the near place, so that this scene, I think it is very interesting. Let's draw this water, I take another approach, after the water ripples or something is drawn, add clouds, fish scale clouds, after the painting is made, it is more realistic. I've been trying to figure out how to draw the fish scale clouds in the sky for many yearsCoupled with the water of the Yi River, it should be said that it is relatively beautiful and complete. Sometimes you have to use your brain to find a way to combine the water with the mountain and with other places. In my landscape paintings, you may have noticed that there is a characteristic that I like to paint the sun. In order to draw the sun, how many times have I waited for the sun to rise before I ran to the banks of the Yi River, waiting to observe the sun's rise. You think, the sun and the clouds, I think this painting is particularly vibrant and infectious. As painters, we need to observe things and enrich your skills from actual sketching. ”

"Silent Ohno".

"It is the time of the poet's bard".

The Yihe River is an important subject of Mr. Wu Xingpei's landscape paintings, which he has studied and excavated continuously, which contrasts with the Mengshan meteorology he expressed. Mr. Wu Xingpei deeply rooted art in Yimeng, he has always chewed on the perception of life, condensed artistic emotions, swayed enthusiasm and sweat, he is a wonderful portrayal of Yimeng, and praises the great beauty of Yimeng!Written by Shangguan Juewen on December 24, 2023 in Quancheng Shixiuzhai.
