Poets of the Song Dynasty liked to write self-praise in their poems.

The so-called self-praise, some are self-deprecation, some are self-entertainment, and some are similar to the self-identification when filling in the resume in modern times.

Let's first look at the poem "Self-Praise" written by the Northern Song Dynasty writer Su Dongpo, he said:

The eyes are like a newborn calf, and the body is like an untied boat.

Let's ask about my life's achievements, Huangzhou, Huizhou, Yazhou.

This is a poem inscribed by Su Shi on his portrait two months before his death. Perhaps because of a premonition, the poet made a coffin for himself before he died, and positioned his life's work in Huangzhou, Huizhou, and Yazhou, where he was degraded.

The merit mentioned here should be to praise himself for finally getting out of the three wild places alive, showing the poet's expansive mentality and witty language.

Looking at the poem "Self-Praise" written by the Northern Song Dynasty poet Huang Tingjian, he said:

It seems that the monk has hair, and it seems to be vulgar and dustless.

Dream within a dream, see the outside body.

Huang Tingjian is Sumen**, he has the ability to write and paint, in addition to "playing" self-portraits, he can also write inscriptions on the portrait. He also learned Buddhism and practiced meditation, it was really wine and meat through the intestines, the Buddha left in his heart, and he did not forget the original intention of being born after entering the world.

Looking at the poem "Self-Praise" written by the Southern Song Dynasty poet Yang Wanli, he said:

The blue and white fundus is not visible, and the orpiment is not in production.

There is only one crime that is not forgiven, and the moon is clear and breezy.

Yang Wanli returned to the field in his later years, lived in the Wanhua River Valley, often in the night of the breeze and the bright moon, the night of the smoke and clouds, the morning of the snow and rain, lingered in the Wanhua River Valley to enjoy the scenery and drink, wrote poems and lyrics, and jokingly called this a sudden beauty.

He also wrote "Praise Again" and said:

The river wind asks me to groan, and the mountain and the moon call me to drink.

Before the drunk fall flowers, the heaven and the earth are pillows.
