On December 21, 2023, with the approval of ***, the Customs Tariff Commission issued an announcement announcing the adjustment of import and export tariffs on some commodities from January 1, 2024.
In order to enhance the linkage effect of two resources in the domestic and international markets, and maintain the stability and smoothness of China's domestic industrial chain, from January 1, 2024, China will implement a provisional import tax rate lower than the most-favored-nation tax rate for 1,010 goods, which involves many types of household appliances and parts, as detailed in the table below.
Specifically, the categories subject to the provisional import tax rate lower than the MFN tax rate include refrigeration equipment parts and components, as well as various household appliances, including range hoods, water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines and other major appliances, as well as small household appliances such as juicers, grinders, hair dryers, rice cookers, and coffee machines.
In addition, according to the Office of the Customs Tariff Commission, from January 1, 2024, according to the development of the domestic industry and changes in supply and demand, within the scope of China's commitment to join the world's first organization, the import tariffs on ethylene, propylene, and liquid crystal glass substrates below 6 generations will be increased.
