On the morning of December 18, the Nanchang Intermediate People's Court complied with an order issued by the Supreme Court to carry out Lao Zhirong's death sentence and give an explanation to the victim's family.
According to the Nanchang Intermediate People's Court, during the trial of Lao Rongzhi's case, the judicial organs conducted a comprehensive review and investigation of Lao Zhirong in strict accordance with the law. The Supreme People's Court also listened to the defense opinions of lawyer Lao Rongzhi and fully guaranteed the procedural rights enjoyed by defendant Liu in accordance with the law. Whether from a factual or legal point of view, it is impossible for Lao Rongzhi to overturn the case.
So why did Lao Rongzhi still have to review and suspend the sentence before the execution was carried out?
According to article 261 of the Criminal Procedure Law, the President of the Supreme People's Court shall issue an order for the execution of the death penalty when the Supreme People's Court imposes and approves a sentence for immediate execution. "These efforts are aimed at ensuring that executions are carried out fairly, lawfully and humanely. Lawyer Li Mai introduced. In addition, a series of preparations are required before implementation.

Where, upon review, the Supreme People's Court finds that it might affect the convict's conviction or sentencing, it shall rule to stop the execution of the death penalty;and where it is found that it will not be affected, a decision shall be made to continue the execution of the death penalty.
Before carrying out the death penalty, the first-instance trial court shall also inform the convict that he or she has the right to meet with his or her close relatives. If the convict applies for a meeting and provides specific information, the people's court shall notify his close relatives. If it is truly impossible to get in touch with the convict's close relatives, or if their close relatives refuse to meet with them, the convict shall be informed. If the convict applies to leave a last word through means such as audio or video recording, the people's court may permit it.
During the course of enforcement, the adjudicators directing enforcement shall also verify the identity of the convict, interrogate whether there are any last words or letters, and make a record. This procedure is to ensure the correctness and fairness of the execution of the death penalty.
The entire process of Lao Rongzhi's case has been tried by the ** court, in accordance with the procedures, and the evidence is conclusive. According to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, intentional homicide, kidnapping, robbery, etc. are serious crimes, for which the law provides for severe punishments, including the death penalty.
