In 1984, the report of the "7.12" war reached **, and the marshal couldn't help but exclaim after seeing the battlefield
"Since the Huaihai War, I haven't seen so many enemy corpses!”So, how tragic was the "7.12" war?Why can the *** marshal of Rong Ma's life have such an sigh?
In July 1984, in order to regain the lost Lao Son position, the Vietnamese army launched a fierce counterattack against our army.
According to the previous combat experience, the current operation to strike at the enemy's counterattack was still to bombard the enemy with artillery fire first.
To this end, in addition to the original artillery fortification, the logistics of the 40th Division of our army also arranged more than 200 vehicles to transport artillery shells to the front line.
After the battle began, our rocket artillery fired thirteen salves in one go, followed by 85 canons, 100 canons, 152 grenades, and even tanks from the tank battalion lined up and bombarded the Vietnamese positions fiercely.
At that time, each mortar had to prepare at least 3 firing pins, and if one was bent and replaced, the barrel would be red.
Although this far exceeded the provisions of the textbook, Liu Changyou, then commander of the 40th Division of the 14th Group Army, said: "If you are popular, you have to fight."
Later, when the artillery battle was at its most intense, the paint on the barrel was all gone, and the barrel was red, and when the soldiers wanted to smoke, they only had to press on the barrel.
So, what was the result of this artillery battle?
After the first round of shelling by our troops, there was not a sound in the areas hit.
According to the confessions of the prisoners captured later, the first round of artillery shelling by our troops killed and wounded the enemy, and two battalion commanders of the Vietnamese army were killed at the very beginning.
But soon, our army began a second shelling, but by this time the Vietnamese army could no longer parry, and the listening station was filled with the screams and wails of the Vietnamese army.
According to post-war statistics: in the "7.12" artillery battle, our army fired a total of more than 3,400 tons of shells, and each soldier had to load an average of 131 ton. Eighty percent of the Vietnamese army's ** was fired by our army's artillery.
It is worth mentioning that the "12 July" artillery battle was also included in the textbooks of the National Defense University of the People's Liberation Army and the West Point Military Academy of the United States.
In this battle, the 119th Regiment led by Zhang Youxia emerged with many heroic deedsFor example, the "Li Haixin Heights" named after the "combat hero" Li Haixin, and the "Laoshan Defense Hero Company" destroyed 274 enemies in seven companies, and so on.
First of all, let's talk about the "combat hero" Li Haixin.
At four o'clock in the morning of July 12, the Vietnamese army sent a battalion and a ** company to launch a surprise attack on the 119 heights where the 3rd platoon of the 142 regiment was stationed.
The enemy was menacing, and Li Haixin, who was the leader of the ** platoon at the time, immediately organized 3 platoon fighters to quickly enter the battle.
However, due to the disparity in strength between the enemy and us, coupled with the lack of artillery support, the 3rd Platoon could only fight and retreat, and the Vietnamese army won for the time being.
At about 13 o'clock in the afternoon, our artillery shells arrived, and the artillery units concentrated their artillery to launch a bombardment on the 142 heights.
At this time, the 119th Regiment sent a platoon to charge up with fire, and the 142nd Heights were soon occupied by our troops again.
After several hours of fierce fighting, the soldiers of the third platoon, with the cooperation of friendly forces, finally repelled the attack of the Vietnamese army.
Among them, 15 soldiers destroyed 104 enemies, and all of them made meritorious contributions, and three soldiers were also awarded the honorary title of "Battle Heroes".
It is a pity that Li Haixin died heroically in order to defend the high ground at the age of 22. Before his sacrifice, he said to Yang Guoyue, the ninth squad leader:
"Leave me alone, I can't do it, the high ground is handed over to you, tell the comrades of the whole platoon, even if there is only one person left, you must hold the position and not disgrace the motherland. ”This heights were later named after platoon commander Li Haixin--"Lee Hae-hin Heights".
In addition, the 7th Company of the 119th Regiment also fought very well!
After completing the task of pulling out the point, the 7th Company was transferred to the defensive operation of holding the forward position in the Songmaoling area for a long time.
In order to hold the position, the officers and men of the whole company have already made up their minds to die and vowed to live and die with the position.
During this period, they withstood hundreds of enemy anti-aircraft machine gun fire and tank attacks, as well as thousands of shells and indiscriminate shelling.
Despite the fierce offensive of the enemy, the officers and men of the 7th Company never retreated, and repelled five sneak attacks of the enemy in succession.
Especially in the "7.12" battle, the 7th Company, with the support of artillery and brother companies, fought bloodily for 14 hours with two reinforced infantry battalions and 2 ** companies of the Vietnamese army, repelled the enemy's repeated attacks in turn, and destroyed 274 enemies.
The heroic performance of the seventh company was praised by the regimental headquarters, and the ** Military Commission awarded the company"Laoshan Defense Hero Company".honorary titles.
Of course, in the "7.12" battle, the performance of our army's artillery was also outstanding, firing 30,000 shells in one day, completely defeating the will and tactics of the Vietnamese army to the collapse, making Songmaoling truly the "sad ridge" of the Vietnamese army.
According to post-war statistics: in the Battle of Songmaoling on July 12, the 356th Division of the Vietnamese Army reached more than 2,000 people, of which more than 600 were killedThe 174th Regiment of the 316th Division was nearly 1,000, of which more than 200 were killed and all three infantry regiments were disabled.
In addition, more than 200 people were killed in the 141st Regiment of the 312th Division of the Vietnamese Army, which shows the heavy weight of the Vietnamese army.
So much so that when the battle report reached the hands of Marshal ***, he also exclaimed: "I haven't seen so many enemy corpses since the Huaihai War!."”
Due to the heavy enemy army, the corpses at the front of the position can be described as piled up, and it was summer at that time, and the corpses were easy to decompose.
For this reason, our anti-chemical warfare units have also specially fired anti-chemical bombs to prevent the decay and stench of corpses from wafting over.
The "7.12" Songmaoling Battle in the Laoshan Battle truly played the military and national prestige of our army.
