Tesla's humanoid robot was unveiled.

On December 13, Tesla unveiled a new demo of Tesla's humanoid robot "Optimus Gen2" on X**.

*Introduced, the second-generation Optimus is equipped with actuators and sensors designed by Tesla, a 2-degree-of-freedom drive neck, a faster-responding 11-degree-of-freedom dexterous hand, a tactile sensor (10 fingers), an actuator with integrated electronics and wiring harnesses, a foot force torque sensor, and an articulated toe.

The second-generation Optimus has a 30% increase in walking speed and a similar way to a human. Weight 10kg lighter, able to do 90-degree squats.

In addition, the second-generation Optimus has a sense of touch on all fingers and is able to peel off the eggshell with ease.

Musk has previously said that the demand for Optimus may reach 10 billion to 20 billion units, and the future price will be less than 20,000 US dollars (about 140,000 yuan).

Tesla's humanoid robot was first unveiled in August 2021, when Tesla CEO Elon Musk publicly demonstrated Tesla's humanoid robot concept machine Tesla Bot at the first "Artificial Intelligence Day".

In February 2022, Tesla successfully launched a prototype of a humanoid robot within just 6 months of proposing the concept and conducted in-depth research and development as a development platform.

On September 30, 2022, Tesla held its second "Artificial Intelligence Day" and released the latest version of the Optimus (Optimus Prime) humanoid robot, which can realize complex actions such as walking upright, carrying, and sprinkling water.

At the 2023 shareholder meeting, Optimus made another appearance, able to pack a toolbox, walk in cluttered road conditions, etc.

Musk has said. "For the sake of safety, it will not be allowed to be a deep thinker, let alone think about Mars-related issues. ”

It is worth mentioning that some time ago, the 21st Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation also released the first humanoid robot.

The humanoid robot is 162 cm tall, weighs 60 kg, has 39 degrees of freedom (including finger joints), has a maximum load of 5 kg for one arm and 10 kg for both arms, and can walk at a maximum speed of 5 km/h.

In August last year, in the "2022 Lei Jun Annual Speech", Lei Jun, founder and chairman of Xiaomi Group, released the full-size humanoid robot "Tieda" and talked to the robot on the spot.

Lei Jun introduced that humanoid robots need to break through a number of key technologies, and Xiaomi will continue to work in this field.

In recent years, the development of humanoid robots has entered the fast lane, and the demand for humanoid robots in the industry is expected to exceed that of smart cars in the future.
