After obtaining the first carbon footprint certificate in China based on the EU Battery Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR) and ISO 14067, the smart brand has made another important breakthrough in the practice of "carbon neutrality". Recently, the smart Phantom 1 received a vehicle carbon footprint certificate based on the ISO 14067 standard. The certificate is certified by TÜV Rheinland Greater China (TÜV Rheinland), an international independent third-party testing, inspection and certification organization. Relying on its leading vehicle life cycle carbon footprint accounting capabilities, smart continues to promote carbon reduction in the whole chain and help the low-carbon transformation of the automotive industry.
The Smart Phantom 1 has been awarded the ISO 14067 Vehicle Carbon Footprint CertificateTake the lead in deployment and continue to improve carbon management capabilities
In the context of global "carbon neutrality", the smart brand takes "decarbonization" as its own responsibility, and takes carbon management capabilities as the core content of achieving sustainable development. As early as 2021, smart set up a special project for vehicle life cycle carbon footprint research, and gradually built up the whole life cycle carbon footprint accounting capability of the whole vehicle.
In this certification, the smart R&D team overcame the technical problems encountered in the calculation of carbon footprints of complex industrial products such as automobiles by analyzing global policies, standards and regulations, conducting field research, and using LCA modeling. After careful review, the carbon footprint calculation process of the whole life cycle of smart Phantom 1 in material production, parts manufacturing, vehicle assembly, vehicle use, and scrapping** all meet the requirements of relevant standards, so as to maximize the balanced development of corporate benefits, social benefits and environmental benefits.
Coordinate carbon reduction and help the low-carbon transformation of the industrial chain
Following a sustainable pathway, smart is committed to exploring best practices for low-carbon mobility in cities. smart will work on the workflow and normalization of carbon footprint calculation, establish a full-chain collaborative carbon reduction work system, and collaborate with upstream and downstream partners to reduce carbon emissions.
Through in-depth research on the processing process, greenhouse gas emission sources and energy measurement status of key components, the smart R&D team has established a carbon footprint calculation method for key components, and delineated the scope of parts included in the vehicle carbon footprint certification through statistical analysis, involving a total of 30 key suppliers, covering about 80% of the weight of the vehicle. The carbon footprint data of smart accounting not only truly reflects the carbon emissions generated by the whole product chain, but also can identify the stages and links of high carbon emissions, assist the first chain to make targeted improvements, and lead the decarbonization process of the industry.
Smart is committed to exploring low-carbon urban mobility and leading the decarbonization process of the industryIn the future, smart will continue to work with partners across the entire industry chain to bring the new generation of smart pure electric vehicles to the market in a greener and low-carbon way, helping the sustainable development of the global automotive industry and making tomorrow smarter together.
