Recently, the kick-off meeting of the National Natural Science Commission of China for the Basic Science Center of Flexible Electronics was held in Xi'an. The project is led by Northwestern Polytechnical University and jointly undertaken by Nanjing University of Technology and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

Academician Hao Yue, director of the Information Science Department of the National Natural Science Commission, and other ten academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Sciences and well-known experts in related fields attended the meeting.

Song Baowei, President of Northwestern Polytechnical University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Academician Huang Wei, Chief Scientist of the Frontier Science Center for Flexible Electronics of Northwestern Polytechnical University, academic backbones of the project research unit, responsible comrades of relevant functional departments in the university, and relevant scholars in the field of flexible electronics attended the meeting. Vice President Zhang Kaifu presided over the opening ceremony.

On behalf of the university, Song Baowei extended a warm welcome to all academicians, experts and representatives who came to the meeting. He pointed out that flexible electronics is not only an emerging interdisciplinary discipline, but also a key development discipline of the university. Focusing on the major strategic needs of the country, the university takes "emerging, interdisciplinarity, and integration" as the main breakthrough discipline direction, and continuously strengthens the support for basic disciplines in accordance with the construction strategy of "classification and co-ordination, first-class traction, backbone strengthening, cross-drive, and ecological optimization".

He said that the university attaches great importance to the construction and development of interdisciplinary flexible electronics, and the team of academician Huang Wei actively carries out cutting-edge exploration and innovative research around the basic science and key technical issues in the direction of organic flexible electronics, plastic flexible electronics, biological flexible electronics and printed flexible electronics. The school will integrate the relevant advantageous resources in the school to provide strong support and guarantee.

He hoped that the experts attending the meeting would actively offer suggestions and suggestions, and put forward more valuable opinionsHelp Xi'an University of Technology to make greater breakthroughs in forward-looking basic research and leading original achievements, and contribute more to the construction of a scientific and technological power.

Hao Yue systematically introduced the positioning and basic requirements of the National Natural Science Commission for the research of the project, as well as the communication and cooperation mechanism and platform construction mechanism between the project participants and the subject. Academician Huang Wei said that flexible electronics, as the most transformative, oriented, extensive and leading disruptive technology, has become one of the focuses of scientific and technological development in many developed and emerging economies in the world. The establishment and construction of the basic science center project of flexible electronics is of great significance for building a world-class scientific and technological innovation center, a talent training highland and an industrial leading position in the field of flexible electronics.
