Hello friends, I am Qing Yinyang. Let's spend ten minutes a day studying the Analects together. This classic is a condensation of Confucius's thoughts, and I hope that we can find our own path in life through the study of this classic Xi and help the healthy development of life.
Zi said: "If it is not its ghost, it will be sacrificed, and it will be flattering." If you don't do righteousness, you don't have courage. ”
Confucius said, "It is flattering to sacrifice ghosts and gods that should not be sacrificed to oneself." It is cowardly to see what should be done and not to do it. ”
Confucius said that sacrificing ghosts and gods that should not be sacrificed to oneself is an act of flattery. The ghosts and gods here mainly refer to our ancestors. China's ancestral beliefs have been passed down for thousands of years and have now become the spiritual sustenance of most Chinese. We ordinary people are not very aware of the existence of ghosts and gods, but we will have the attitude of believing in them rather than believing them, and when we encounter ghosts and gods, we will worship them first and then talk about them, so as to seek the protection of ghosts and gods. Confucius said here that if it is your own ancestor, you should worship it, because there must be a inheritance between the previous and subsequent generations. But if you worship a ghost or god that you know is not the one you should worship, your intentions are very questionable.
The reason why Confucius said this is because we ourselves are not clear about this kind of thing. What we worship is the inheritance of our body, and what we worship to Guan Gong and other gods is the national righteousness of the Chinese nation, and these are all things that should be done. And for some gods that you don't know at all, first of all, you are not his followers, and secondly, the spirit he inherits does not give your spirit and heart a place to rest, in other words, you don't even know who he is. What are you trying to do with him? It's just flattering in search of benefits. You are keen to do this kind of illusory thing, but you can stand by and watch the moral things that are really in front of you, this is not responsible.
Taken together, these two sentences mean that you do what you shouldn't do, and you don't do what you should do. Such a person can't figure out the importance of doing things, and he doesn't know the root of doing things at all, how can this kind of person enter politics?Whether you are a politician or a person, you have to do a good job of "people" first, and you are indifferent to moral matters, do you think ghosts and gods will protect people like you?The reason why they are admired is in itself a kind of morality. And if you don't do real moral things, and pursue those illusory things, you will inherently reverse the beginning and the end. At this time, no matter how flattering you are, the ghosts and gods will not be able to protect you. Because in Confucius's view, there is heaven above ghosts and gods. Heaven represents absolute justice, and if your behavior meets God's requirements, the ghosts and gods will bless you, and if your actions are contrary to the goodness of human nature, it is impossible for the ghosts and gods to bless you, because God cannot agree.
After reading this verse, we should know that we should respect the ghost but not go near it. The most important thing for people is to cultivate their own virtues, and it is better to do the things that we can grasp to the extreme than to waste time and energy on things that we cannot grasp. You can't imagine that others will come down from the sky to save your poverty and ignorance, you need to create a good life by yourself, and it's better to be pragmatic in doing things.
