John Sloan (1871-1951), an American painter and one of the founders of the Dumpster School (a group of painters known for their realistic depictions of everyday life in cities).
Sloan was born in Lockhefen, Pennsylvania, and settled in New York with his family in 1904
When Sloan was 4 years old, he liked to draw with a pencil, and he didn't like it in general, he couldn't extricate himself, he scribbled on dirt floors, old newspapers, wherever he could!
