The first lesson of the new year
In ancient China, the great philosopher Confucius once said to his proud disciple Yan Yuan: "If you use it, you will do it, and if you give it up, you will hide it. This sentence contains a profound philosophy, telling us how to find balance in life and how to deal with the relationship between the individual and the external environment.
First of all, Confucius emphasized that "what is used is what is done". This means that when we are needed and valued, we should not hesitate to show our talents and abilities to realize our value. Whether in the workplace, at school, or at home, when we are given responsibilities, we should be brave enough to take them and strive to do our best.
Then, Confucius said, "If you give it up, you will hide it." This means that when we are at a low point, or when we are ignored or left out, we should know how to restrain and know how to hide our light. This is not a passive escapism, but a kind of wisdom, an insight into oneself and one's environment. When the external environment is not suitable for us to express ourselves, we can choose to temporarily put away our edge and wait for the right time to shine again.
In the end, Confucius sighed: "Only I am a husband with you!" This sentence is not only an appreciation for Yan Yuan, but also an introspection of himself. Confucius knew very well that in this world, there are not many people who really know the way of "hiding with sacrifice", and he and Yan Yuan happen to be such people. This also tells us that on the road to success, we must not only have talent and hard work, but also know how to advance and retreat at the right time, and know how to live in harmony with the external environment.
In general, this famous quote of Confucius tells us that in the journey of life, we need to know the wisdom of "hiding with sacrificial deeds". When needed, we need to move forward bravely; When neglected, we need to know how to converge. Only in this way can we find the balance in our lives and achieve true success.
