After ten years of hard work, the Nanhai Reading Station has borne fruit. On December 31, Nanfang+ learned from the Nanhai District Library that since the opening of the first reading station in Nanhai in 2013, 270 smart libraries (hereinafter referred to as "reading stations") have been built in Nanhai District, and the public library service system covers 7 towns (streets) in the district, serving more than 21 million people.

In the streets and alleys of the South China Sea, you can always inadvertently encounter a variety of reading stations with different characteristics. Starting from the Nanhai Guicheng Extreme Sports Park, walk along the Dongping River Embankment for about 10 minutes to East Tsim Sha Tsui Park, where you can see a special Internet celebrity reading station. Named the "Insight Book House", it is hidden in the park and "placed" under the bridge, blending in with the surrounding landscape, where readers can gain insight into knowledge, culture and beauty.
The Reading Station is an innovative project of Nanhai to vigorously build a public cultural service system, promote the equalization and integration of urban and rural public cultural services, and promote national reading. In 2013, Nanhai District Library was the first in the country to provide 24-hour unattended free and open reading station project, and the first reading station was opened in Guicheng Vanke Golden Home. In 2017, the Nanhai Reading Station project was rated as "National Excellent Reading Promotion Project".

The construction of the reading station in Nanhai District is led and planned as a whole, and the society is jointly built and shared. Nanhai District ** will include the construction incentives and book purchase subsidies of the reading station into the special fund for the development of cultural undertakings, and 7 towns (streets) will set up a corresponding reward and subsidy policy to mobilize the enthusiasm of social forces to participate in the construction of the reading station. From 2016 to 2022, Nanhai District has rewarded more than 50 million yuan for the construction of reading stations, and leveraged more than 1 for social construction300 million yuan.
The construction of smart libraries in Nanhai District was launched in July 2021, and as of November 30, 2023, 227 of the 292 villages (communities) in the district have been covered, with a coverage rate of 777%。Up to now, the Nanhai District Public Library has served more than 21 million people.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Nanhai District Library, looking forward to the next ten years, Nanhai will realize that all villages will have at least one reading station, and at the same time promote the characteristic development of reading stations, so that public cultural services will be more down-to-earth and pleasing to the people. In 2024, the new library of Nanhai District will be completed and put into use, and a large reading station will be set up on the first floor.
