When you are using electron in Microsoft Excel, you accidentally copy the rows, or if you are making a synthetic electron of several other electrons, you will encounter duplicate rows that need to be removed. This can be a very mindless, repetitive, time-consuming task, but there are a few tricks to make it simpler.

1. Click any cell in the dataset.

2. On the Data tab, in the Data Tools group, click Remove Duplicates.

The following dialog box will appear.

3. Select the All checkbox and click OK.

Result: Excel deletes all identical rows (blue) except for the first identical row found (yellow).

1. Delete rows with the same surname and country.

2. Check the last name and country region, and then click OK.

Result: excel deletes all rows with the same last name and country region (blue), except for the first instance found (yellow).

You can use advanced filters to extract unique rows (or unique values in columns).

1. On the Data tab, in the Sort and filter group, click Advanced.

The Advanced Filters dialog box is displayed.

2. Click Copy filter results to another location.

3. Click in the list area box and select the range A1:A17 (see the image below).

4. Click the "Copy to" box and select cell F1 (see image below).

5. Select Non-Duplicate Records.

6. Click OK.

Result: Excel removes all duplicate last names and sends the result to column F.

Note: In step 8, select the range A1:D17 instead of A1:A17 to extract the unique rows.

7. Finally, you can use conditional formatting in Excel to highlight duplicate values.
