Yesterday, the first phase of the middle line of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project ushered in its ninth anniversary. A reporter from Beijing Youth Daily learned from the water affairs department yesterday that up to now, Beijing has used more than 9.3 billion cubic meters of "south water", and the city's direct beneficiary population has exceeded 15 million. Over the past nine years, the surging "South Water" has gone north along the thousand-mile long canal, which has greatly alleviated the situation of serious shortage of water resources in the capital, improved the safety and security of urban water supply, increased the strategic reserve of water resources, strongly supported the regional ecological environment and economic and social development, and greatly improved the sense of gain and happiness of the citizens of the capital. At present, the South-to-North Water Transfer Project has become the main source of water to ensure Beijing's urban water demand.
The main waterworks basically realize the dual water source water supply.
In October 2023, the Fengtai Hexi No. 3 Water Plant (Phase I), which uses "South Water" as the water source, was officially put into operation, with an additional daily water supply capacity of 60,000 cubic meters. So far, a total of 14 water plants in the city have received water from the south to the north, and continue to deliver high-quality and reliable "river water" to thousands of households.
According to reports, of the 9.3 billion yuan of "south water" entering Beijing, 6.3 billion cubic meters are mainly used for residents' domestic water, accounting for about 70 percent of the total "south water" entering Beijing, and the city's main water plants have basically realized dual water source water supply. "This year, we have further increased the proportion of water diversion used in urban production and life, and the safety factor of urban water supply has been increased to 13. The highest daily water consumption in the south during high temperature in summer exceeded 3.4 million cubic meters. Wang Junwen, deputy director of the Municipal Water Resources Dispatching and Management Center, said that at present, the south-to-north water diversion has become the main source of water to ensure Beijing's urban water demand.
The groundwater level in the plain area has risen by 1064 meters.
With the blessing of "South Water", the capital's strategic water reserves are also more confident. A reporter from Beiqing Daily learned that in the past nine years, Beijing has stored about 800 million cubic meters of water in the Daning Reservoir, Huairou Reservoir, Miyun Reservoir, Ming Tombs Reservoir and Yizhuang Regulating Pond. Among them, the Miyun Reservoir has accumulated more than 500 million cubic meters of water storage, and the Huairou Water Reservoir has stored about 100 million cubic meters, which has greatly strengthened the strategic reserve of water resources in Beijing.
At the same time, the city's groundwater overexploitation has been effectively controlled, through the comprehensive implementation of "control, management, saving, transfer, replacement, replenishment" treatment measures, the city's plain area groundwater level has risen for 8 consecutive years 1064 meters, an increase of 54 reserves500 million cubic meters; The water storage of Miyun Reservoir has recovered rapidly and stabilized at about 3 billion cubic meters, with a maximum storage capacity of 35 in 20217.9 billion cubic meters, a new high since the establishment of the library; The annual utilization of reclaimed water exceeds 1.2 billion cubic meters ......At present, the city has initially built a multi-source water source guarantee pattern of south-to-north water diversion, local surface water, groundwater, and reclaimed water, and the capital's water security system has been comprehensively improved.
Over the past nine years, the city has always put water conservation, pollution control and water conservation in the first place, and cherished and made good use of the south-to-north water diversion to the greatest extent. After the "South Water" entered Beijing, the water diversion project was used to connect the reservoirs, and the water supply was replenished to the water sources through the Yongding River, Chaobai River, North Canal and other major rivers in the territory, realizing the interconnection of the city's key reservoirs, underground water sources, river and lake water networks, water pipelines, etc., and the recovery of the ecological environment of rivers and lakes has achieved remarkable results.
Real-time control of water quality along the way to ensure that there are no abnormalities.
A reporter from Beiqing Daily learned that the "South Water" goes all the way north from the Danjiangkou Reservoir and enters Beijing from the southwest of Beijing, and part of it flows into the Tuancheng Lake Regulating Pond through the West Fourth Ring Culvert ProjectThe other part of the "South Water" will be sent to the eastern, southern, and sub-center areas of Beijing through supporting projects such as the South Trunk Canal Project, the East Trunk Canal Project, the Yizhuang Regulating Pool Project, and the Tongzhou Branch Line Project.
Automatic monitoring and mobile monitoring equipment have been installed along the middle route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, which can control the water quality situation in real time, and there are 34 monitoring sections in Beijing alone. If we find an abnormality, we will immediately deal with it and switch the local water source to ensure that the water is safe. Wang Yan from the Operation Management Section of the Beijing South-to-North Water Diversion Ring Road Management Office pointed out that "since the 'South Water' entered Beijing, there has been no abnormal water quality. ”
It is reported that after the "South Water" enters Beijing, underground pipelines are used to implement fully enclosed water transportation, and the method of "civil air defense + technical defense" is adopted along the line to do a good job in water quality protection. "In order to ensure that everyone has water when they turn on the faucet, the amount of water delivered by our pipes must also be adjusted in time. Li Wei, chief of the dispatching section of the ring line management office, introduced that the engineering designers arranged professional instruments such as pressure gauges, flow meters, water level gauges, stress gauges, and piezometers along the line in advance, which were distributed in dozens of sections along the project to continuously monitor the pipeline operation data. These data will eventually be transmitted to the dispatching hall of the ring line management office, and the dispatcher will be on duty 24 hours a day to monitor, and conduct regular comparison and analysis of more than 5,700 data every day, and if any abnormalities are found, they will be investigated, analyzed and disposed of immediately. In addition, manual comparison and monitoring of key nodes of the project are carried out on a regular basis to verify the accuracy of the transmitted data to ensure the safety of the project operation.
In the next step, the Beijing water affairs department will speed up the implementation of the capital's water resources security pattern of "making full use of the middle line of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, opening up the eastern route, opening up the western emergency channel, and strengthening the protection of water sources in the north" as determined by the Beijing Urban Master Plan, actively promote the high-quality development of the follow-up project of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, continue to consolidate and improve the results of counterpart cooperation and support for the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, and work with the people in the water source areas to protect and conserve water and seek common development.
