On the historic December 11, two nuclear submarines – the Type 955A strategic nuclear submarine "Emperor Alexander III" and the Project 885M multipurpose nuclear submarine "Kra Yarsk" – officially joined the combat sequence of the Russian Pacific Fleet. Russia's Putin also attended the commissioning ceremony of the two nuclear submarines, and on the same day, Russia's Putin personally visited the Severmash shipyard in Severodvinsk to witness the commissioning process of the two submarines. Putin's sudden visit makes this momentous moment even more historic. Under the supervision of Putin**, the two submarines successfully completed commissioning and officially joined the combat sequence of the Russian Navy. Their addition will further enhance the combat capability of the Russian Navy and escort the Russian Navy.
The Type 955A strategic nuclear submarines added this time differ from the previous "Boreas" class. It eliminated the turtle back to accommodate submarine-launched ICBMs and set up a sleek corner filling at the front end of the enclosure to reduce fluid noise. At the same time, the shape of its conning tower has also changed from the inverted triangle of the first three ships of the "God of the North Wind" class to a long rectangle. In terms of **, in addition to carrying 16 Bulava submarine-launched ICBMs with a range of up to 9,300 km, it also has six 533-mm torpedo tubes. And this year, the plant received an order for the construction of four new strategic nuclear submarines of the same type, bringing the total number of strategic nuclear submarines of this type to 14.
Another one joined is the Type 885M multipurpose nuclear submarine, which is the latest generation of multipurpose nuclear submarines of the Russian Navy and has strong combat capabilities. Based on the 855 prototype "Severodvinsk", the 885M Yasen-M class attack nuclear submarine further improves reliability and optimizes the hydroacoustic design. In addition to having eight 650 533-mm torpedo tubes and a capacity of 30 torpedoes, it also has 24 missile vertical launchers capable of launching Kalibr cruise missiles, Onyx and Zircon anti-ship missiles. Currently, a number of 885M Yasen-M class ships are under construction.
And the Severodvinsk shipyard is also conducting research and development work on the fifth generation of strategic nuclear submarines and attack nuclear submarines of the Russian Navy. The head declared that they are undergoing a large-scale technological upgrade, and when the conditions are ripe, the construction of Russian fifth-generation strategic and attack nuclear submarines will begin. These nuclear submarines will be built in a new modular scheme, which will further reduce the construction period of nuclear submarines by 18 months.
At this historic moment, the strength of the Russian Navy has increased significantly. The addition of two new nuclear submarines will undoubtedly further enhance the combat capability of the Russian Navy and escort the Russian Navy. And the technical upgrade of the Severodvinsk shipyard and the plan for the construction of new submarines also show Russia's determination and strength in the construction of the Navy.
