The CRH5 EMU prototype SM3 is not part of Alstom's T** technology platform products. Due to the articulated bogie adopted by T**, the technical requirements for the car body are too high. Alstom sells Fiat's Finnish-built SM3 tilting EMUs, as shown in the picture. This situation also provides convenient conditions for the compatibility of ground maintenance equipment of Chinese EMUs and the unified work of EMUs in the later stage.
The prototype is designed for a speed of 220 km/h;It is one of the most widely used Pendolino series trains in EuropeIt is suitable for use in alpine regions. In the process of introduction, the changes were great, the pendulum mechanism of the bogie was removed, and the original rigid spring was upgraded by using the air spring two-series suspension. In addition, Changke Co., Ltd. designed and produced sand-resistant and cold-resistant EMUs on the basis of CRH5A EMUs. Due to the lack of 300km H speed upgrade capability, the CRH5A EMU did not have the upgrade model of the 380 series in the later period.
At present, various types of EMUs in China are gradually promoting the unified work of customer service and operation interfaces, and are upgraded to unified EMUs, which will not be described in detail. In addition, in terms of technology, CRH380D, CRH380C and intercity EMUs have technically converged with multiple technology platforms.
