Finance Associated Press, December 11 (edited by Zhou ZiyiAccording to the latest report released by market research firm TechInsights, the global notebook market has experienced eight consecutive quarters of decline in shipments after a record 2021, but the market is expected to be the best in the current quarter.
The agency expects shipments for the full year of 2023 to be down 27% from 2021. But there are signs that in the current quarter (Q4), laptop shipments will recoverFourth-quarter shipments are expected to increase 7% year-over-yearand start a period of continuous growth until 2025, and then level off again.
Driven by multiple favorable factors,Global laptop shipments in 2024 are expected to increase by 11% compared to this year
By 2025, TechInsights expects laptop shipments to go one step further, reaching about 2400 million units, one of the key elements is that the PCs purchased by consumers during the epidemic will usher in a wave of upgrading.
Multiple elements
Multiple factors driving the growth of notebook market shipments include Microsoft's Windows upgrade cycle, the growth of AI PCs, and increased competition for ARM-based PC chips.
First of all, PC processors under the ARM architecture will be closely related to AI PCs. In October, rumors spread that both AMD and Nvidia were designing Arm-based processors for PCs that would run Windows and would be available as early as 2025.
While existing x86 processors are considered to be more performant, they require more space, cooling, and power consumption to operate. Arm processors, on the other hand, are known for their efficiency, and the smaller instruction set on them means they can break down instructions faster and consume less power.
In addition, at the end of October, Microsoft added Copilot, an artificial intelligence assistant, to its Windows 11 system, a move that was a huge hit. The industry expects that Window 11 is expected to drive a wave of enterprise replacement.
However, Windows 11 has not fundamentally changed the way users use their computers. However, if in the future Windows 12 systems are designed with artificial intelligence in mind from the start, the introduction of a PC with AI hardware, coupled with an enhanced version of Copilot, will become an even more attractive product.
