On November 22, 2023 local time, the European Union officially released the new version of the EU eco-design regulation for household dryers

2023 2533, marks an important upgrade to the energy efficiency regulations for household dryers. This change is the result of several rounds of technical discussions and consultations between the European Commission and relevant stakeholders since 2019, and represents a new step in the EU's energy efficiency management of household appliances.

This revision of the regulation, together with the household dryer energy efficiency labeling regulation EU 2023 2534 formulated on July 13, 2023, constitutes a new regulatory control system for the energy efficiency of household dryers. Compared with the previous versions of EU 932 2012 and EU 392 2012, the new version of the regulation has been adjusted and updated in a number of aspects, including:

1. Change of energy efficiency program identificationThe new regulation removes the requirement for the arrow marking of energy efficiency programs in the old regulations and instead uses "eco" as a dedicated procedure for energy efficiency testing. The aim of this change is to simplify signage and increase consumer awareness and use of energy-saving procedures.

2. Condensing efficiency of condensing tumble dryer:In the new regulations, the condensing efficiency of the condensing tumble dryer shall not be less than 80%. This improvement means higher energy efficiency and lower operating costs.

3. Power consumption requirements for shutdown:From May 9, 2027, the power consumption limit for household dryers will be increased from the original 050w reduced to 030w。This change will have a profound impact on the electrical design phase of dryer products, pushing manufacturers to improve the energy efficiency of their products.

4. Added power consumption requirements in the delayed start state:The new regulations stipulate that the power consumption of the dryer must not exceed 400w。This further reduces the energy consumption of the product in standby mode.

5. Adjustment of energy efficiency label level:The change in the grade of the energy efficiency label from the original A+++D to the A G grade is intended to provide consumers with clearer and more intuitive energy efficiency information to help guide consumer choices.

Manufacturers need to adapt their product designs to meet new regulatory requirements, while consumers can enjoy more efficient, energy-efficient dryer products.
