FedEx issued an announcement that from December 8, 2023, FedEx international economic services from Chinese mainland to Europe will be suspended.
Why is this service suspended? The reason given by FedEx is that due to the surge in freight volume during the peak season, Chinese mainland to European destination countries is becoming increasingly tight, and the international economy service cannot meet customer expectations, so it decided to close it. It also said that unless otherwise notified, FedEx international economic services from Chinese mainland to Europe will be suspended.
However, users can continue to use FedEx International Priority to ship shipments to Europe.
Does this move mean that FedEx is no longer looking at the Chinese market? At the 6th China International Import Expo in November, Chen Jialiang, senior vice president and president of FedEx China, said that FedEx is full of confidence in the Chinese market and will support China's sustainable development with a long-term vision and strategy.
Chen Jialiang said that China is one of the regions with the fastest development and the most potential for FedEx's international business.
FedEx currently operates more than 300 weekly international flights in Chinese mainland, enhancing connectivity with North America and Europe for customers in China and the Asia-Pacific region.
