6. Winning cases of LOOP awards
1. Watch the teahouse.
The project is located in an ordinary village in Shandong Province, China, which is an abandoned tea farmer's residence in a tea plantation. The recovery process follows the principle of least intervention and respects the site. The architects kept the old building and revived it with new features. The new section is reinforced by a steel structure that acts as a white lighthouse, enlarges the previous height, and the windows are wide open, creating not only a completely new façade, but also increased lighting, and the simple and clean design language also contrasts with the old prototype. The new building is a tea house for local farmers and tourists, providing them with shelter and a place to relax. It is also a landmark tower for daytime observation and a beacon for villagers to enter the night.
2. Chudong parking lot.
The design of the Chudong parking lot structure is designed to respond to the chaos of the surrounding environment with simple geometric shapes. The building in the floor plan consists of two semicircles at both ends, with a pair of shear walls built at both ends to bear most of the loads, while the rectangle in the middle is composed of a simple column-beam structure that meets most parking requirements. The resulting form is both light and rich in cultural expressions, especially the appearance of the shutters provides a visual reference for the Hakka umbrella cultural relics.
3. Baishan Clubhouse.
The project aims to reactivate the public spaces around the community, transforming and redefining the site's former living conditions. Indoor environments include: children's activity center, reading room, indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, private dining hall, coffee bar and other activity areas. Thanks to the presence of outdoor landscapes and indoor spaces, people can actively interact in this open and flowing space, even if it is relatively limited. We hope that the community center can be used as a place for communication and gathering, and can promote family and neighborhood relations, and become a city node that stimulates public energy.
