Beijing, a city of infinite opportunities and dreams, attracts millions of young people every year to "drift north", hoping to find a place in this prosperous land. However, as time goes by, the longing of the past and the cruelty of reality continue to intertwine, and many people find that although they have a good income, their lives are still full of invisible pressures.

In the city of Beijing, every street and every high-rise building may give birth to the story of a northward drifter. I am one of them, and in my eighth year, my monthly salary has reached 30,000 yuan, which is a large number in the eyes of many people. But here, the truth of life is far more complicated than the numbers.

Rent is still the largest part of the fixed monthly expenses, even if the down payment on the house is only possible after years of hard work and family support. In this home, I felt like a guest with very little say. Despite the money in my pocket, I seldom allowed myself a 30 yuan lunch and stuck to the bustling roadside stalls. Deep down, I often ask myself, is this kind of rush and dedication worth it?

Living in such an environment, sources of stress seem to be everywhere.

First of all, the high cost of living is undoubtedly a heavy burden on the shoulders of every North Drifter. From rent, food, clothing, transportation, to children's education in the future, every expense is like a grain of sand in an hourglass, constantly slipping through your fingers. And as parents get older, the responsibility of supporting the elderly is getting closer, and all this constitutes a heavy load that makes people breathless.

Secondly, the mentality of not being willing to be ordinary is the original intention that drives us to come to this city without risk. Elsewhere, it may be possible to live a more secure life, but for those of us who aspire to break through, that life seems to be missing a little bit of color. Beijing, as a place full of opportunities, provides a stage for people with dreams to sweat and show their talents.

This kind of life is not understood by everyone. Some people may think we are stupid and wonder why we work so hard in this city. For us, it was a journey to pursue our dreams, and although we were tired, we were also full of challenges and a sense of achievement.

What do you think of the people who drift north?Do you have any friends around you who are working hard in first-tier cities?Everyone is welcome to communicate in the comment area!
