Beijing, December 18, 2023 – Recently, several Chinese engineering construction, design and manufacturing companies won the Greater China Outstanding Recognition Award at Autodesk University, a global design and creation event. The award recognizes the advanced digital achievements of Greater China and hopes to inspire practitioners to work with Autodesk to build a better future.
The award-winning works cover two categories: engineering construction and manufacturing, fully illustrating the trend of BIM and other digital technologies in China from scratch, from existence to many, and multi-point, as well as the positive impact on the industry, showing new technologies such as generative design and artificial intelligence, and the deepening of cross-professional integration.
Looking at the award-winning works, you can deeply feel that Autodesk's digital technology is helping China's engineering and construction industry and manufacturing industry accelerate the digital transformation, providing customers with a solid foundation for progress. Especially in the field of design and manufacturing, Autodesk has been paying close attention to customer needs, thinking about how to use emerging technologies such as technology, data, and automation to disrupt the way products are designed and manufactured, combining expertise in product design, product engineering and manufacturing with industry expertise, and opening up the foundation of project collaboration and interconnection through the design and manufacturing platform, helping to easily connect processes.

Based on the integration and application of BIM-CIM technology, the digital achievements of historical buildings in Guangzhou have successfully explored a new digital work model suitable for the protection of ancient Chinese buildings. Guangzhou Urban Planning Survey and Design Institute *** introduced"Point cloud + BIM"The new digital model, using accurate and real 3D point cloud data, combined with BIM model data information, forms a BIM data parameter component library of ancient buildings, which provides effective data support for activation application, repair analysis, and auxiliary decision-making, and reduces the possibility of secondary destruction of ancient buildings.
Jiangsu Garden Expo Park project is a "double repair" demonstration project of "ecological restoration and urban weaving" in Jiangsu Province. Following the concept of sustainable development, the investment and development of China Construction Eighth Bureau Cultural Tourism Expo has used BIM technology to turn "decay" into magic, and has carried out all-round restoration and transformation of this industrial site. The team leveraged the connected BIM to provide a single source of truth for the project, solving the problem of multi-discipline collaboration for very large and complex projects. In addition, the team also used BIM to help the cultural inheritance and ecological restoration of ancient Chinese garden architecture.
The Taoxi Pearl Project is a mixed-use architectural complex of shops, artists' studios, and civic activity spaces, with a unique core structure of wavy flowing arcade spaces covered with glazed tiles, which presents challenges to the design, construction, and maintenance of the project. China Construction First Bureau (Group)** has successfully solved these problems by leveraging Revit's efficient and diverse model transfer capabilities, combined with digital technologies such as cloud collaboration platforms, industrial cutting machines, BIM three-dimensional (3D) settings, mixed reality wearables, and 3D scanning.
In the second phase of the sludge treatment project of Shanghai Bailonggang Sewage Treatment Plant, which occupies an important position in Shanghai sludge treatment, Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute (Group)** has made this large-scale project a benchmark for sustainable development with the help of BIM integration technology throughout the life cycle. To meet the project's stringent time and space requirements, the team adopted collaborative design and BIM workflows to complete the design efficiently. The team also proposed a BIM model framework and PID-BIM tools, and adopted emerging technologies such as ultra-wideband to ensure that the project was sustainable, of high standards and diverse.
Tianjin Architectural Design and Research Institute*** has adopted BIM throughout the life cycle of the Chinese Character Museum to carry out the project. In the design process, Autodesk Dynamo was used for parametric design, BIM was used to solve the problem of multi-storey space and sloping eaves, and prefabricated building façade panels were used to reduce material waste and facilitate construction. At the same time, the digital project delivery of the project was carried out.
In addition to the engineering and construction industry, more and more companies in various fields around the world are gradually using digital technology to improve their productivity. The manufacturing industry has also seized the opportunities brought about by digitalization, using data to unleash creativity and productivity, and realize the transformation of business methods and the improvement of efficiency.

Based on ifm (Integrated Plant Modeling), Baosteel Engineering & Technology Group and Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. have built one of the lighthouse projects of China's digital twin factory. According to the Baosteel team, it has achieved collaborative design, digital disclosure and digital twin operation management, improved the design efficiency by 60%, shortened the construction period by 21%, and set a new record for the transformation of a large-scale continuous casting plant.
With the help of generative design and digital twin technology, Shanghai Herui Industrial Design has carried out the lightweight design of automobile wheels. On the premise of not changing materials, manufacturing methods and meeting performance requirements, the company carried out lightweight optimization design, and cooperated with the German bearing giant Schaeffler Group to create 9-11t commercial vehicle wheels.
In the R&D and design process of the flagship car of Gaohe Z, Human Horizons adopted a fully digital R&D process based on Autodesk Alias and VRED, which shortened the cycle through virtual review and largely replaced the clay model. This method greatly shortens the project development cycle and saves a huge amount of cost in making a solid model.
As an unwavering promoter of digital technology, Autodesk has participated in and witnessed the great achievements and extraordinary breakthroughs in the digital transformation of China's engineering and construction industry and manufacturing industry. In the future, Autodesk will also follow the general trend of digital transformation and cross-industry integration in the industry, and help China's construction and manufacturing to further demonstrate its strong strength and play an important role on the global stage.
