In "Raiders of Yanxi Palace", Empress Fucha caused the emperor to lose confidence in everything due to Erqing's discord, and finally chose a tragic ending. However, although her historical archetype, Empress Hyo Hyun Chun, did not choose to commit suicide, she died young at the age of 37.
As a noble queen, Hyo Hyun Chun enjoys glory and wealth and bathes in the best life in the world. However, why did her husband Qianlong live a long life while she died early?History does not record the detailed cause of Empress Xiaoxianchun's death, but we may find the answer in a famous poem by Qianlong.
Qianlong was an emperor who was keen on poetry, and it is said that he wrote tens of thousands of poems in his lifetime, most of which dealt with daily trivial matters. However, of the more than 100 poems that have survived, a significant number were written for his deceased wife, Fucha. One of the famous poems reads: "Twenty years of concentricity into passing water, two eyes of blood and tears sprinkled with the east wind." knew that he had lost his son and his dead mother, so why bother to look forward to the dream bear in the first place. ”
This poem profoundly expresses Qianlong's longing for his deceased wife. The literal translation of the last two sentences says that if I had foreseen that the loss of a child would have hit the queen so hard that she could not afford to fall ill, then I might not have been so eager to have a child in the first place. Qianlong's poem subtly reveals the true cause of the queen's death, not because she was jealous of her other concubines or because Qianlong was not favored, but because she was sad when her two sons (Yonglian and Yongcong) died one after another.
Ancient people paid attention to the inheritance of incense, especially the emperor, and the desire for his son can be imagined. However, Qianlong actually expressed the idea that the queen is more important than her son. The death of Empress Fucha, Qianlong was not without responsibility. Although he was deeply distressed by the loss of his son, he could not understand the hardships of being pregnant for ten months, so he could not understand the pain of the queen. Although Qianlong had children born to other concubines, the queen could not have them. Qianlong thought that the queen could cheer up as quickly as he did, but he didn't expect that during the eastern tour, the seemingly normal queen was actually physically and mentally exhausted and terminally ill. By the time Qianlong realized it, the queen had already passed away. After the death of the queen, Qianlong personally set the nickname of "Empress Xiaoxianchun" for her. Because the place where Empress Fucha died was Dezhou, he never set foot in this city again for the rest of Qianlong's life, because it was the place where the empress died, and it was also the place of pain in his heart.
