The Nike Air Huarache Runner continues the legacy that began in 1991.
After the success of several revolutionary Nike Running products, Tinker Hatfield began updating the brand's non-Air Max solutions. Inspired by water skiing gear, the legendary sneaker designer brings stretch neoprene material to high-performance running spaces to create the iconic Nike Air Huarache. The marketing slogan is "Did you hold your feet today?".The slogan, the silhouette offers an ultra-secure lockdown and futuristic thinking aesthetic.
Nike's Air Huarache Runner takes Hatfield's blueprint and updates it with the lens of a modern performance model. While it's not recommended for serious running in these sneakers – for that, there's the alphafly 3 – the shoes offer a comfortable ride for the lifestyle. The heel cage has been updated with sleeker design cues than the original, but still presents a futuristic look. The upper is made of mesh, suede and leather, creating a more breathable layout while also echoing the hustle and bustle of retro runners.
Although the Nike Air Huarache collection draws inspiration from high-performance shoes, this isn't the first time Swoosh has updated the sneaker with a modern running lens. Throughout the early 2010s, a handful of Huaraches had Nike Free sole units. The model didn't resonate with audiences like its predecessor in '91, but it showcased the brand's ability to blend tradition with new technology.
