Sea turtles, an ancient species of creature, date back about 100 million years to the time when they coexisted with dinosaurs. This fact proves that sea turtles, as the longest-lived creatures on earth, have won the special love of many people for their unique solitary character and calm character.

On December 9, 2023, our familiar old friend, Legotruman, a fan designer from Hong Kong, China, designed his work ".Turtles(Sea Turtle) finally received 10,000 votes on the LEGOIDEAS platform, becoming the 29th entry in the third round of IDEAS review in 2023. The results of this round of review are expected to be announced next summer.

Legotruman, whose real name is Zheng Chongmin, has been21333 Vincent van Gogh - Starry NightFans of designers are in the spotlight. At the 2023 Fuzhou AFOL Festival, we had the pleasure of connecting with him, during which he told us about the creative process of "Starry Night". We also published an interview with him earlier.

Special admiration for his Lego Astronaut work, which persistently submitted three times and received 10,000 votes each timeAt the same time, I also really like his other 10,000-ticket work, "LEGO Semi-Anatomy Minifigures". In addition, there is also a work that received 10,000 votes during the Mid-Autumn Festival, "Guanghan Palace", the results of the review round of these works are still waiting to be announced, and the results are still undecided.

Returning to today's theme, "Turtle", a new work with 10,000 votes, has been submitted from February 18, 2023 to December 9, 2023, with 10,000 votes in support, after 294 days. Incredibly, this is the 14th Legotruman work to receive 10,000 votes, putting him close to Bricky Brick, the "strongest man" on the Ideas platform.

For lovers of the vast ocean and its creatures, this turtle model made from 1,218 LEGO parts is a special gift. If you are attracted by those turtles that swim freely in the sea, then this exquisite model is just for you.

Designer Legotruman is in awe of the amazing creature of sea turtles. He wanted to be able to create a LEGO model of the animal, so he crafted this realistic model to capture the turtle's unique physical features. There are only seven species of sea turtles left in the world, including the green turtle, hawksbill turtle, loggerhead [xī] turtle, flat-backed turtle, Atlantic ridley turtle, Pacific ridley turtle and leatherback turtle.

Legotruman does not specify which turtle this turtle model is based on, but judging by the shape of the beak on the roof of its head, it appears to be borrowed from hawksbill turtles, commonly known as hawksbill turtles or thirteen-edged turtles. The hawksbill turtle is distinguished by its sharp hook on the upper jaw, which resembles an eagle's beak, and the serrated edge shield on the edge of its shell, which are the distinctive hallmarks of hawksbill turtles.

The most striking part of this turtle model is undoubtedly its shell. The 13 pieces of shields, the vertebral shield and the rib shield, together form the main body of the dorsal armor. The name commonly known as "Thirteen-Edged Tortoise" also comes from this. Legotruman skillfully uses a variety of smooth panels and wedge-shaped plate parts to restore the details of these shields. In particular, the construction technique under the 13 different planes creates an arc-shaped arch effect, showing the exquisite design craftsmanship.

In terms of color matching, the model uses beige as the base tone, supplemented by reddish-brown and dark orange parts, which vividly reproduce the shades of spots on the surface of the turtle. Both in shape and color, this model is very close to a real sea turtle.

In addition to the striking shell, the turtle's four giant flippers are just as eye-catching. For example, the green sea turtle relies on its four giant flippers to complete thousands of miles of long-distance migration in the Pacific or Indian Oceans.

In addition, the turtle's head design is also lifelike, and like the flippers, it can swing in different shapes to simulate a variety of swimming postures.

Other fan designers, such as quaintwolf082 and legoverwatch, have also submitted turtle creations with similar themes. But in comparison, the turtle designed by Legotruman is undoubtedly the closest to a real turtle in terms of the proportions of various parts of the body and the restoration of the shape.

As a static model for display, this turtle piece performs well. At the moment, we're still waiting to see if it will pass the final review and become an official LEGO set. What are your thoughts on this?
