On December 10, the two-day 2023 "Skechers" Pickleball National Grand Prix officially came to an end in Shanghai. The champion and runner-up teams from a total of 4 sub-competitions in Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu and Suzhou, as well as 24 groups of players recruited from the public, gathered at Shanghai LCM Zhihui Xuhui Plaza to compete on a professional pickleball course specially built for the event. In the end, the evergreen team (team members: Chen Yan, Huang Wei) won the men's doubles championship, and the Chengdu Tennis Association (team members: Wang Wenbo, Xian Hang) won the mixed doubles championship. Sun Wenbing, Director of the Youth and Mass Tennis Department of the Tennis Management Center of the General Administration of Sports of the People's Republic of China and Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Tennis Association, presented awards to the top three teams on the spot.
The competition is divided into two categories: men's doubles and mixed doubles, and adopts the latest "Chinese Pickleball Competition Rules" promulgated by the Chinese Tennis Association. There are many key players such as former national tennis team member Meng Luqianzi and American veteran pickleball player Chen Yan. Both players achieved a 5In the 0 professional class, the two players also worked together with their teammates to win the rankings in their respective groups. In September this year, the Chinese Tennis Association established the "Pickleball Promotion Committee", which is composed of 18 member units, aiming to unite units interested in promoting the development of pickleball, enrich pickleball training, events and other activities, expand the popularity and population size of pickleball in China, and further improve the level of pickleball competition. Orange Lion Sports, as the A-class promotion unit of the Chinese Tennis Association, took the lead in holding all the sub-stations and finals of the 2023 "Skechers" Pickleball National Grand Prix.
In addition to the event, a seminar on the topic of "summarizing the work experience of pickleball promotion this year and jointly developing the norms and standards of pickleball in China" will also be held soon, and experts and practitioners from the Chinese Tennis Association, the tennis associations of various provinces and autonomous regions, the members of the pickleball work promotion committee, pickleball manufacturers and clubs will attend the meeting.
