yearsmonthDaily,In order to improve the accuracy of junction temperature sensing, Infineon Technologies AG (FSE**: IFX OTCQX**: IFNNY) has launched a new CoolMOS S7T product family with integrated temperature sensor. By integrating this family of semiconductors into the system, durability, safety, and efficiency can be improved in many electronic applications. With its excellent on-resistance and high-precision embedded sensors, the CoolMOS S7T is best suited to improve the performance and reliability of Solid State Relay (SSR) applications.

SSR is the basic configuration for a wide range of electronic devices, and customers can reap the benefits of integrating sensors and superjunction MOSFETs in the same package. Infineon's innovative solutions improve the performance of relays and enable them to operate reliably even under overload conditions. Compared to standard stand-alone on-board sensors located at the drain, the integrated temperature sensor offers up to 40% higher accuracy, 10x faster response time, and greater reliability due to the ability to perform monitoring processes separately within a multi-device system.

The CoolMOS S7T optimizes the use of power transistors to improve the performance and precise control of the output stage. Its total power dissipation is reduced by up to two times that of electromechanical relays and is more than five times more efficient than current solid-state triac solutions. Increased efficiency and the ability to handle higher loads help reduce power consumption and energy costs.

The unique output stage performance coupled with a significant overcurrent threshold increases relay reliability and minimizes the risk of failure and downtime. This rugged switching solution also increases operational safety. With higher robustness, MOSFETs are able to extend the lifetime of relays and reduce the frequency of replacement. All of these benefits ultimately translate into lower maintenance costs.
