Inter Milan manager Inzaghi sought a reunion with the Lazio star last summer

Inter Milan manager Inzaghi reportedly tried to sign his Lazio student Ciro Immobile when he was looking for a striker last summer. The Nerazzurri's attacking wing has undergone a major overhaul in the off-season. Club captain Lautaro Martínez was the only one to stay.

On the other hand, the Nerazzurri parted ways with Romelu Lukaku as well as Edin Deco in a rather dramatic way. They also loaned Joaquín Correa to Marseille. The Serie A giants snapped up Marcus Thuram on a free transfer. They also brought in Marco Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez. However, the Austrian bomber was not the first choice on the club's shortlist. Inter have been linked with a number of strikers.

In addition, a new report claims that Inter Milan have also sought to sign Immobile. According to Roma Sport, Inzaghi wants to reunite with the striker, who led the team during his five years at Lazio. The Roma newspaper even claimed that Inter had direct links with the player and his agent. However, convincing Lazio president Claudio Lotito to part ways with the club captain was an almost impossible task. Immobile has made 21 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring seven goals. The striker's contract with Lazio runs until 2026.
