What is GOTS Certification?
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The standard was developed and published by the IWG, an international working group of GOTS comprising the International Natural Textiles Association (IVN), the Japan Organic Cotton Association (JOCA), the American Organic ** Association (OTA) and the British Soil Association (SA).
The purpose of GOTS standard certification is to ensure that organic textiles are standardized from harvesting, to raw materials, to processing, and to the final product packaging, so as to bring reliable products to the end consumer. This new, unique certification regulation requires textile manufacturers to standardize the production of their organic textiles and garments to globally recognized standards, which is an important step towards harmonizing and transparent textile labeling.
The GOTS standard covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling,** and distribution of all textiles with a minimum of 70% certified organic and natural fibre content. Final products may include (but are not limited to) fibre products, yarns, fabrics, clothing, textile fashion (wearable) accessories, textile toys, home textiles, mattresses and bedding and textile personal care products.
The content of the standard includes: raw materials, production process, packaging and transportation, inputs (including excipients, dyeing materials, processing aids, etc.), production records, social guidelines, environmental management, quality control (including technical quality parameters and residue detection) and other contents.
So how do companies apply for GOTS certification?
GOTS certification is generally divided into the following steps:
1.After receiving the duly signed application form and reviewing it correctly, the applicant company will initiate a project to evaluate the feasibility of certification and related costs.
2.After the contract evaluates the application form, the audit agency will specify the estimated cost in the contract according to the situation of the application**, and the applicant will confirm the signature as soon as possible after receiving the contract.
3.After receiving the contract signature and review, the registration review agency will register and issue the registration number for the applicant.
4.PaymentAfter the audit agency issues a ** contract, the enterprise needs to pay.
5.After the audit determines that the necessary system documents have been sorted out, the audit agency will arrange auditors to conduct an on-site audit, and a formal report will be issued within two weeks after the audit.
