The reporter learned from Guangzhou Metro that since the opening of the Shitan Station of Line 8 to Guangzhou Baiyun Station (hereinafter referred to as the "Shibai Transfer Channel"), the average daily distribution volume of the station (that is, the sum of the passenger flow in and out of the station) has increased from nearly 10,000 to about 40,000 people, of which the passenger flow from the Shibai transfer channel accounts for 92% of the total passenger flow. Combined with the map adjustment of Guangzhou Baiyun Station and the increase in passenger flow during the Spring Festival, from January 10, Line 8 will increase 2 trains in both directions during the morning and evening peaks. After the addition of trains, the minimum travel interval of Line 8 during peak hours will be reduced from 2 minutes and 49 seconds to 2 minutes and 41 seconds, further improving the transportation capacity.
Guangzhou Metro said that in order to ensure the smooth and orderly organization of passenger transportation at Shitan Station, it will continue to make full arrangements for transportation services in combination with the passenger flow of Shitan Station, including increasing the station's staff to guide security checks, ticket purchases, service consultations, etc., and strengthen communication and cooperation with Guangzhou Baiyun Station, and launch targeted capacity optimization measures in a timely manner according to the changes in passenger flow at Baiyun Station.
