XVIIFeed the seagulls

Feeding the seagulls at the Qingdao Zhanqiao, I saw it in the early winter of 2014 when I was with my wife in "Hometown Tour". I also took a lot of **, so I chose two of them to put on first.

The picture shows that in the winter of 2014, I fed the seagulls at the Qingdao Zhanqiao.

I left Qingdao in 1963, and I could see seagulls every day on the beach, but there were not many, only a dozen. No one feeds it, you throw the food in the air, and it won't come to eat. Seagulls are migratory birds, and in winter, in Qingdao, except for a small number of domestic gulls (similar to house finches, not migrating), seagulls are rare.

This time I went to Qingdao, it was early winter, and I was very surprised and relieved to see someone feeding seagulls on the pier.

The first time I saw and tried this scene was in 1990 in Dianchi Lake in Kunming. In the spring of that year, we held a working meeting on the communication and reporting of the head office in Kunming, and after the end, we took a boat to visit Dianchi Lake. One of the items on the boat is to feed the seagulls. We are so excited and unforgettable to be in such close contact with wild animals.

The picture shows that in the spring of 1990, I was in Dianchi Lake in Kunming, throwing food and feeding seagulls.

Now, seeing the scene of people and seagulls living in harmony in Qingdao makes me think: why didn't I have this scene when I was in Qingdao? When did you start feeding seagulls on the pier? These seagulls are fromHow long can I stay in Qingdao?Has anyone hurt them?(When I was a child, I heard that someone set up a trap to catch seagulls) Qingdao feeds seagulls on the trestle, can it become a scene of Qingdao like Kunming and a business card of Qingdao? And so on and so forth.

In the early summer of 2017, I returned to Qingdao, and although there were not many seagulls on the pier, there were still people feeding them. Listening to relatives and classmates, going to the trestle to feed the seagulls in winter has become a must-go place for Qingdao citizens every year, especially in the Spring Festival days, if you have children, you can't feed the seagulls, you can't pass the child pass, and you won't have a good New Year.

Seagulls are migratory birds and have been included in the list of wild animals protected by the state. A large number of seagulls come to Qingdao for wintering, mainly from Siberia, Heilongjiang and the Sea of Okhotsk. Since December 1, 1994, Qingdao has taken the lead in carrying out the "Seagull Retention Operation" in coastal cities across the country. At that time, there were only two types of gulls near the pier, the red-headed gull and the silver gull, with about 2,000 of them. By 2007, there were 9 species of Qingdao seagulls, with a number of about 50,000. At present, there are nearly 20 species of seagulls in Qingdao, with more than 100,000 individuals, and it can be said that more and more seagulls come to Qingdao for winter, and they are increasing every year.

In 2020, when Qingdao people were lying at home to fight the epidemic, the trestle scenic spot was forbidden to gather, and many Qingdao people were worried about the seagulls. What to do with seagulls? Is there anyone to feed it, will it starve the "friends" who bothered to stay.

Qingdao TV broadcast to the citizens that from February 2, the management personnel of the Zhanqiao Scenic Area used the bread and steamed buns donated by caring citizens and enterprises to feed the seagulls once in the morning and afternoon every day, and the seagulls and Qingdao citizens spent that difficult day together.

Qingdao's "Seagull Retention" campaign has been going on for 28 years now. In winter, going to the pier to see seagulls and feeding seagulls has become a fashion and entertainment for citizens, and has become a favorite way for children to get close to nature, and feeding seagulls has also become a beautiful business card of the trestle. Some families bring their children to play once a week. Every time they came, the children were very excited and danced. Parents also find it a great way for their children to get in touch with nature and gain a lot of knowledge about the ocean.

The picture shows the child feeding the seagulls. Such a landscape can last until the end of April.

In the early days, Qingdao's seagulls only appeared on the front line of Qianhai such as Zhanqiao and May Fourth Square. Nowadays, in addition to the Zhanqiao, May Fourth Square, Wheat Island, Shazikou and other areas on the first line of Qianhai, there are a large number of seagulls in Tangdao Bay and Gujia Island on the west coast, the estuary of Jiaozhou Bay in Licun River, the wetland of Jiaozhou Bay, and the west coast of Jiaozhou Bay.

Seagulls are also lustful.

In winter, it was originally the deserted season for the trestle. Now, in winter, going to the pier to see seagulls and feed seagulls has become a place for citizens to check in. You see, there are more people than seagulls.
