On a cold winter day, there's nothing quite like a hot sweet potato. However, the traditional method of roasting sweet potatoes takes a lot of time and effort. Today, we're going to share an easy and quick way to do it – use the microwave to roast sweet potatoes. Let's learn Xi together!

1. Prepare materials

Sweet potatoes: Choose fresh, pest-free, scar-free sweet potatoes that are of a moderate size, about 100-200 grams.

Paper towel or damp cloth: Used to wrap sweet potatoes to prevent moisture loss.

Fork or toothpick: Used to prick holes in sweet potatoes to allow heat to penetrate.

Second, the steps are explained in detail

Wash the sweet potatoes: Place the sweet potatoes under running water and gently scrub the surface of the dirt and impurities with a brush. Be careful not to scratch the sweet potato skin.

Wrap the sweet potato: Wrap the cleaned sweet potato in a paper towel or damp cloth to keep it moist. You can also wrap it directly in plastic wrap, but leave a small opening to allow the heat to escape.

Piercing: Use a fork or toothpick to prick a few small holes in the surface of the sweet potato to allow the heat to penetrate. This results in a more evenly roasted sweet potato and a better taste.

Microwave oven preheating: Turn the microwave oven to medium-high heat and preheat it for 2-3 minutes to make the internal temperature of the microwave oven reach a suitable state for roasting sweet potatoes.

Add the sweet potato: Put the wrapped sweet potato in the microwave oven, and try to choose the middle of the microwave oven to ensure even heat distribution.

Set time: Set the time to bake the sweet potatoes according to the size of the sweet potatoes and the power of the microwave. Generally, medium-sized sweet potatoes need to be baked for 8-10 minutes. If you are unsure about the time, you can set it for 5 minutes, then observe the condition of the sweet potato, and then extend the time appropriately.

Flip the sweet potato: During the roasting process, you can flip the sweet potato at the right time to heat it more evenly. Flip every 2-3 minutes for a total of 2-3 times.

Check the doneness: After baking, you can insert the sweet potato with a fork or toothpick, if it can be easily inserted and pulled out, the sweet potato is fully cooked.

Remove the sweet potatoes: Carefully remove the roasted sweet potatoes from the microwave, remove the wrapped paper towel or damp cloth, and allow the sweet potatoes to cool slightly.

Cut and enjoy: When the sweet potatoes have cooled slightly, you can cut them into small pieces according to your taste, sprinkle them with powdered sugar or honey, and enjoy the delicious microwave baked sweet potatoes!

3. Precautions.

Choose fresh sweet potatoes for better taste.

When wrapping sweet potatoes, leave a small mouth for ventilation to avoid the water evaporating too quickly and causing the sweet potatoes to dry out.

When roasting sweet potatoes, you can flip them appropriately to make the heat distribution more even.

Roasted sweet potatoes should be cooled slightly before being cut into pieces to avoid burning your mouth.
