From November 23rd to 27th, the final of the 9th National College Student Physics Experiment Competition (Innovation) was held in Chongqing University. After fierce competition, the team of the University of Electronic Science and Technology won 1 national first prize, 3 national second prizes, and 1 national third prize.
The 9th National Undergraduate Physics Experiment Competition (Innovation) is sponsored by the Physics Discipline Group of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center Association, the National Association of Experimental Physics Teaching and Research in Colleges and Universities, and the Physics Teaching Committee of the Chinese Physical Society, undertaken by Chongqing University, and co-organized by the Journal of Physical Experiments and the Chongqing Physical Society. This year's competition attracted 603 universities across the country, including Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, etc., 2,340 teams and more than 13,000 people signed up for the competition, and finally 427 teams from more than 200 colleges and universities across the country entered the on-site finals.
With the strong support of the Academic Affairs Office of the University, the School of Physics has taken the lead in organizing the preparation for this competition since May 2023, with teachers Zhang Xiuming, Gao Yachun, Wu Zhe, Wei Zhaozhao, Liu Yidong, Wang Jiandong, Li Li, Xu Shizhen, Liu Yu and other teachers from the School of Physics serving as instructors.
China Undergraduate Physics Experiment Competition (CUPEC) is a national college student competition approved by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education. The high-standard physics discipline competition sponsored by the Physics Teaching Committee of the Chinese Physical Society was selected into the national college student competition ranking in 2020 and has a wide influence. CUPEC was founded in 2010 to stimulate the interest and potential of college students in physics experiments, cultivate students' innovative spirit and practical ability in practice, and improve students' sense of teamwork and comprehensive quality in competition. Through competitions, teaching and singing, we will continue to deepen the reform of physics experiment teaching in China's colleges and universities, and strive to improve the quality of physics experiment teaching and the quality of training high-quality innovative talents. The competition has built a platform for universities to exchange and discuss the training mode of high-quality physics talents, and promoted the implementation of the national "Top-notch Talent Training Plan".
Since 2020, CUPEC has set up two tracks: CUPEC (teaching) competition and CUPEC (innovation) competition. CUPEC (teaching) is an invitational competition, held every two years, the competition adopts the method of proposition experiment, and the invited teams compete on the same stage to complete the specified experimental requirements within the specified time. CUPEC (Innovation) is held once a year and is open to all college students, with three competition categories: propositional works, self-selected works and physics experiment lectures. The propositional works are mainly aimed at the design and implementation of the specified physical quantity measurement; The self-selected works are the design and implementation of non-propositional physical quantity measurements, the improvement and innovation of physical experimental instruments, physical simulations or experiments, etcThe Physics Experiment Lecture Competition is a way for students to teach university physics experiment courses as teachers. CUPEC (Innovation) is organized according to the school-level selection competition, the national preliminary round and the national finals** competition. The participating teams that have passed the school-level selection competition can register independently with colleges and universities as units, and each university can register up to 5 teams. In some provinces and regions across the country, the provincial or regional selection competitions will be held, and the teams that qualify for the national preliminary round and the teams that qualify for the provincial regional trials will enter the national finals together.
