80 Companion Talk History Dust 14 Frog Fishing

Mondo History Updated on 2024-01-31

Frog fishing was one of the few earth skills I mastered in my childhood.

The whole set of equipment for frog fishing, including bags, sticks, lines, bait, etc., is made from this source. The bag is cut into a piece of film and sewn with a needle and thread, the stick usually chooses a thin bamboo, and a random rope is used as a thread, and the bait is a pumpkin flower core or a frog leg.

With the equipment, let's not talk about action. We are experienced, and generally there will be more small frogs along the creek or paddy field. A few friends ran barefoot all over the vegetable fields in front of the house and behind the house. Frog fishing is much easier than fishing, and you can catch dozens or hundreds of them in an afternoon. These little frogs have become the best ingredients for domestic chickens, ducks and geese.

Frogs eat mosquitoes. We were so good at fishing that when I was learning about biology for many years, I suspected that it was having an impact on the ecology of the neighborhood. In the evening, mosquitoes can be seen in the sky above the rice seedlings in the fields as dense as a forest.

Fishing for frogs also scares the soul. Since the bait is a frog's leg, it can sometimes pull a gecko out of the dense grass. I mistook it for a snake, and I was so frightened that I threw away my stick and ran away.

Summer is the season when frogs are active. Whether it's windy or rainy, we're brave, probably because there's a sense of accomplishment from frog fishingAlthough it was fishy and smelly, it was one of the few things I really loved to do.
